Minzy was welcoming of her fan-junior and grew closer and closer to Somi as the series progressed!

JongHyun revealed that he’s been a long time fan of Uhm JungHwa growing up. When he got the chance to collaborate with the veteran idol on her long-awaited new album, JongHyun posted up a photo of the two on Twitter saying, “I was shaking while taking the photo.”

HongBin was offered to audition from multiple agencies, but declined them except one. When Jellyfish Entertaiment – home of Park HyoShin – gave him a call, he jumped on the chance to be under the same label as his long time idol, Park HyoShin. Throughout his training, Park HyoShin became his close friend and mentor, eventually becoming close enough to visit HongBin at his various events.

SungGyu‘s successful fan story is much like a movie. As a young student, SungGyu grew up loving Nell‘s music. He got a part time job working for a cafe near Woollim Entertainment (then-home to Nell), and actually ran into Nell’s manager. Chart 10 Wednesday: “Produce 101 Season 2” Top Popular Trainee Ranking
The trainees participating in Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2” are out, and we chose the top 10 contestants who are already rising in the popularity ranks!
The latest hot news are all about the release of the lineup for “Produce 101 Season 2”. We’re seeing familiar faces to faces that are completely new to us, but either way, the 101 boys are already laying claims to their growing fandom! The first episode of the survival audition show is set to air on April 7th, but let’s see which trainees are currently the most popular among them all!

10th – Choi TaeWoon (MMO Entertainment)
Choi TaeWoon is a trainee under MMO Entertainment. He known as a former trainee under B2M Entertainment, but he’s best known as a friend of B.A.P’s DaeHyun. DaeHyun uploaded a post on Instagram wishing the trainee luck and best wishes.
9th – Seong HyunWoo (THEVIBE LABEL)
Seong HyunWoo also garnered attention as the trainee backed by INFINITE’s Nam WooHyun. WooHyun uploaded a post on Instagram next to the trainee. It’s been revealed that Seong HyunWoo is the idols’ junior at the same college.
8th – Kim Samuel (Brave Entertainment)
Kim Samuel is best known as Punch from the group 1Punch. 1Punch was created under Brave Entertainment with Samuel and One (who is now a trainee under YG). Thanks to his skills gained from a long training period, and his mixed-race good looks, Samuel caught a lot of camera time during the show’s first MV for “PICK ME Ver. 2”.
7th – Lee EuiWoong (Yue Hua Entertainment)
Lee EuiWoong is a Korean trainee under Yue Hua Entertainment. Besides the fact that he has the textbook soft, charismatic good looks, EuiWoong appeared on “Hello Counselor” to discuss his dilemma about juggling helping out his parents’ store and being a class president. At the time, he wanted to be a model or an actor, but he now changed his dreams to become an idol.
6th – NU’EST (Pledis Entertainment)
Probably the contestants with the most experience, NU’EST’s BaekHo, Ren, JR and MinHyun will be competing for a spot as the final 11. The group just celebrated their 5th anniversary, but the members have returned as trainees instead of veteran idols. As the first boy group to debut under Pledis Entertainment, netizens are looking forward to the members’ progress on the show.

Ha SeongUn is gaining a lot of attention thanks to his impressive networking among famous K-Pop idols. BTS’s JiMin uploaded a post of the two, bragging about his talented trainee hyung. Although it’s been erased, SeongUn’s first profile mentioned that his hobby included gaming with EXO’s SuHo and Kai, SHINee’s TaeMin and BTS’s JiMin.
4th – Bae JinYoung (C9 Entertainment)
Bae JinYoung has already been nicknamed the Zhou Jieqiong (PRISTIN’s KyulKyung) of Season 2. He mentioned that he gained courage to pursue his dream as an idol after watching the first season of the audition program. Thanks to his light eyes and flower boy visuals, his profile video ranks high as most viewed.
3rd – Park JiHoon (Maroo Entertainment)
Park JiHoon came out of nowhere and stole the hearts of the millions with just one wink. At the end of the season’s first MV, Park JiHoon threw out a wink at the camera. In under 2 seconds, Park JiHoon created a fandom. He’s been nicknamed the “Wink Boy” and has the 2nd most watched profile video.
2nd – Lee DaeHwi (Brand New Music)
Lee DaeHwi was a clear winner from the first MV. He was chosen as the first center member out of 101 trainees for his stellar skills and a variety of charms. As a trainee under Brand New Music, DaeHwi received the most camera time and even got to dance on the highest stage all by himself. Considering that Choi YooJung was the center for Season 1 and she debuted as I.O.I, netizens believe that DaeHwi will most likely make it to the top 11 contestants.

For this week’s Chart 10 Wednesday, we take a look at the top 10 K-Pop idols who are loved by variety shows of every channel. We love seeing them on stage performing as true stars, but their variety skills got us laughing with tears.

8th – Red Velvet’s Irene

Her variety skills transferred over to be cast as an MC for OnStyle’s “Laundry Day”. Although she’s still getting used to coming out of her introvert shell, Irene’s unique hobbies and honest personality is a hot topic among variety show fans.

6th – WINNER’s Song Mino
Song Mino’s career in the variety field isn’t as in depth as the other idols, but he’s made his mark in the industry in just a few appearances. He featured on “Infinite Challenge”, where he continued on his SMTM4 momentum. However, when he was cast on “New Journey to the West”, he became an instant sensation with his hilarious wit and humor. Recent news reports have even cited the latest season as the season that saved the show and secured its future!
5th – I.O.I’s SoMi
SoMi was destined for great things not just in the music industry, but also in the entertainment industry. Most recently, her “Battle Trip” episode saw a great response, and she’s even been cast as a co-host of “Get It Beauty 2017”!
3rd – NCT’s DoYoung
This rookie quickly made his way from the K-Pop stage to the variety stage. Thanks to his cleverness and quick responses, DoYoung was cast as a co-host of “Inkigayo”. His variety skills quickly transferred over to OnStyle’s “Lipstick Prince”, and even landed him a guest appearance on his brother’s “We Got Married”.
2nd – BLOCK B’s P.O
P.O came out of left field and hit a home-run in his variety idol career. He’s always had a wacky personality that BBCs love and adore, but his variety stardom hit with OnStyle’s “Lipstick Prince”. His great support and co-hosting transferred over to his first cooking show called “Strange Kitchen”. P.O has become one of the hottest variety idols as more and more muggles (non-K-Pop fans) start recognizing this rapper.
1st – Super Junior’s Kim HeeChul
Without a doubt, 2016 was Kim HeeChul’s era in the variety industry. He’s always been known as a variety idol, but his career soared last season when his blunt comments and hilarious reactions from “Knowing Bros” landed him gigs after gigs in 2016. Not even including his pre-2016 era, HeeChul co-hosted “Weekly Idols”, “Singdella”, “Phantom Singer”, “Lipstick Prince”, “Secretly Greatly”, “YooHeeNakLak” and more!
