So many K-Pop idols are given the opportunity to explore their talents as composers and producers. We see many idols’ names marked proudly on the credits for various albums. They compose for their solo albums, group albums, and even albums of other artists. But did you know that some composers are harder to find because of their composing nicknames?

10th – WINNER’s SeungYoon
SeungYoon’s composer nickname is “Yoon”. He just took the last letter of his name to create his composer nickname. His most recent works include the entirety of WINNER’s latest album, “Fate Number For”.

9th – 2PM’s Jun.K
Jun.K’s composer nickname is “Jun.K”. You may think this isn’t a nickname at all then, but Jun.K was first known as JunSu. He composed as Jun.K before he legally changed his name. He now promotes with Jun.K as his stage name.
8th – INFINITE’s Hoya
Hoya’s composer nickname is “HoBakGoGuMa”. It literally means a type of sweet potato, but it starts with the same letter of his name. His name was chosen by his fans for his solo track, ‘One Day’.
7th – EXO’s ChanYeol
ChanYeol’s composer nickname is “Loey”. The name comes from the last letter of his name Yeol. If you spell it backwards, it becomes the cute name of Loey!
6th – SHINee’s JongHyun
You see JongHyun’s name in tracklist credits, so you’d never know that he has a composing team called “We Freaky”. The group is comprised of the idol and his closest friends. They composed many of SHINee’s very own songs together.
5th – Wonder Girls’ YeEun
YeEun’s composer nickname is “HAT:FELT”. It’s pronounced literally ‘hat-felt’ and it’s a play on the word Heartfelt. She shortened the word Heart to Hat to mean both Heart and Hot. She wanted her name to mean sincerity as well as passion and hotness. She also uses this name for her solo work.
4th – GOT7’s YoungJae
YoungJae’s composing nickname is “Ars”. It’s pronounced as a full word and not just the letters A-R-S. He composed GOT7’s ‘HEY’, which he got hate from his members for making it in his high vocal key.
3rd – GOT7’s JB
JB goes by “Im JaeBeom”, “JB” and “DEFSOUL”. The first is his full legal name, JB is his stage name, and DEFSOUL is his hidden composer name. “DEFSOUL” is a combination of sticky+weary+sexy.
2nd – BTS’s Suga
Suga’s composer nickname is “Agust D”. The name is a combination of his stage name Suga and his underground rap crew, Daegu Town. You take Suga backwards to get Agus, and add the initials of Daegu Town backwards to get Agust D!
1st – HIGHLIGHT’s Yong JunHyung
The idol with the most composing nickname and experience has to be Yong JunHyung. He often goes by his full name as a composer, but he also goes by “JOKER” and “GOOD LIFE”. The first belongs just to him, but “GOOD LIFE” is a composing team he created with his good friend Kim TaeJoo.
