“Do they hail from your side of the world?”
It’s common for some of our favorite Kpop idols to be from different countries. You can even say that it’s the latest trend, and to have a foreign member has become a necessity. Thank goodness for that, because the hallyu wave has grown to global proportions! We can relate better with our bias groups when we relate with them culturally. It’s impossible to name all of our foreign idols, but here are 10 idols who have helped us relate better to the phenomenon called Kpop.

1. Jackson – GOT7 (Hong Kong)
Born from mainland Chinese parents, Jackson was born and raised in Hong Kong, where he also won first place at a junior fencing championship.
2. Tzuyu – Twice (Taiwan)
The latest beauty sensation of Kpop, Tzuyu, was born in Taiwan! And I’ll leave it there…
3. Ailee (New Jersey, USA)
Korea’s Beyoncé was born in Colorado and raised in New Jersey before moving to Korea in 2010 to pursue (and fulfilling) her passion of becoming the next top vocal powerhouse.
4. Cao Lu – Fiestar (China)
Cao Lu, who hails from China, has been making a hit in the Korean entertainment scene with her quirky and cute charms!
5. Amber – f(x) (California, USA)
Although her parents are from Taiwan, Amber was born and raised in LA, where she auditioned for SM and ultimately made the decision to move to Korea.
6. Henry – Super Junior-M (Toronto, Canada)
Henry was born to a Chinese father and a Taiwanese mother, but was born and raised in Canada. No wonder Amber and he are bffs; they seem to have so much in common!
1. Nichkhun – 2PM (California, New Zealand, Thailand, etc…)
The “Thai Prince” was born in Rancho Cucamonga, but grew up in a variety of different countries such as USA, New Zealand, and Thailand. Not to mention his global Thai-Chinese-American heritage!
8. Zico – Block B (Japan, China, Canada)
Even before hitting the underground scene in South Korea, Zico has spent numerous years of his youth studying in China, Canada, and particularly, Japan.
9. Dara – 2NE1 (Philippines)
2NE1’s ‘Vampire’ Dara was born in Busan, South Korea, but her family moved to the Philippines when she was young. She grew up in the island country and even made her first debut there.
10. CL – 2NE1 (Paris, France & Tokyo, Japan)
“The Baddest Female” was born in Seoul, but grew up mostly in Japan and Paris, where she lived abroad alone for 2 years when she was only 13!

You can call him hilarious, adorable, and even crazy, but you may have not known is that he has a little ‘foreign’ background! HaHa was born in Stuttgart, Germany, where he also made the papers as the “Asian Giant” for his extraordinary birth weight. Something we’re all familiar with if you watch Running Man frequently!
