1:1 Q&A With Red Velvet Member Joy About K-Drama ‘Tempted’
K-drama ‘Tempted‘ may not have had the highest view rates in South Korea, but it is definitely being talked about a lot by K-Pop fans and netizens in general.
Red Velvet member Joy, along with actor Woo DoHwan is of course probably the main reason why the show seems to be able to stay somewhat relevant in the K-Pop scene at the moment.
Below is a transcript of Joy’s interview with Herald Corp.’s Pop News.
Q: How did people around you and other Red Velvet members react after watching you on the show?
A: I actually haven’t been able to get any feedback or reactions from people because I’m still constantly busy filming for the show. Other Red Velvet members have been very supportive and I feel thankful for that.
Q: What is the secret to your great chemistry with actor Woo DoHwan?
A: I was surprised to hear that people think I have good chemistry with him. I’ve gotten to know him better and so it’s become easier for me to be on the set with him. I’m able to have a lot of conversations with him so I think that’s been an important factor in helping me act out in scenes with him.
Q: Which scene would you pick as the “best”?
A: Personally, I like the scene on episode 8 where TaeHee wraps a scarf around SiHyun in front of the police station. I think it’s an important scene because it shows that TaeHee is beginning to develop feelings for SiHyun.
Q: Which method of seduction did you find to your liking?
A: I thought the scene where SiHyun behaves friendly to the elderly women was the most interesting method. I think people are usually attracted to people who are similar to themselves.
Q: What are your thoughts on the kissing scene inside the convenience store?
A: Because it was a scene that was somewhat personally challenging for me to execute, I had to put a lot of effort into it. To be honest, I had small expectations and thought that the scene would generate maybe just a bit of noise from the audience but I had no idea that the response would turn out to be this big. I’m thankful for that.\
Q: What is your personal behind story in regards to the kissing scene?
A: It wasn’t necessarily the kissing scene itself that I have a behind story for. I had to focus a lot because I was playing a character that begins to have feelings for someone else for the very first time after having built an emotional wall. And so I remember that I put a lot of effort in trying to portray her as someone who is kissing someone for the very first time.
Q: What is one compelling thing about ‘Tempted’?
A: I think the diverse vibe the show has. Each character has their individual vibe and color. TaeHee seems to have a sky blue color mixed with white that represents innocence. I might be saying this because I’m playing her character but I feel that one of the attractive things in the show is her ability to brighten up the dark vibe of the show.
