12 Dramas To Wait For In 2020

Are you getting ready for 2020? The new year will offer an amazing lineup of dramas and we are looking forward to many of them.

It was hard to narrow down the list of dramas to wait for but here are 12 of them in no particular order. Let us know in the comment and in the poll what you are looking for in 2020.

Note that some dramas have yet to confirm the cast and exact date of broadcast. 

 

1- Suzy & Nam JooHyuk - "Start-Up"

When: From May (?) on tvN

Cast: Suzy & Nam JooHyuk (in talks)

Summary: The story of a woman who started in the field of start-ups by dreaming of Steve Jobs, a man who became her first love unintentionally, and another man who needs to make the man looks good. It will tell their start and growth. “Sandbox” is South Korea’s Silicon Valley where are gathered start-ups who dream to be the future Google and Amazon.

Why wait for it?: The pairing of Suzy and Nam JooHyuk sounds like a must-see. An IT-related drama also seems interesting.

2- Yoo SeungHo & Lee SeYoung - "Memorist"

Cast: Yoo SeungHo & Lee SeYoung (in talks)

Summary: It tells the story of detective DongBaek who has the supernatural power of reading memories. He is facing mysterious serial murder cases.

Why wait for it?: Yoo SeungHo and Lee SeYoung are both recognized for their solid acting skills and might form the hit duo of the year. The story of the drama is based on a popular webtoon which might guarantee the quality of the plot.

3- Jung HaeIn & Chae SooBin - "A Piece of Your Mind"

Why wait for it?: This fantasy romantic comedy drama is centered around cats, it is a must-see for cat-lovers. Kim MyungSoo's acting keeps on improving and many are looking for this drama.

5- Park MinYoung & Seo KangJoon - "If The Weather Is Nice, I Will Come Find You"

When: From February (?) on JTBC

Cast: Park MinYoung & Seo KangJoon

Summary: It tells the warm romance of HaeWon who teaches painting and EunSeob who runs a small bookstore in a rural village.

Why wait for it?: The reason is simple: a top actor cast. Also, Lee JaeWook was cast which also make us look forward to it.

6- Lee MinHo & Kim GoEun - "The King: The Eternal Monarch"

When: On SBS

Cast: Lee MinHo & Kim GoEun

Summary: The drama is set in a parallel world. It depicts the cooperation between two worlds. A god released the dark forces on humans and these dark forces opened the door between these two worlds. In one, Emperor Lee Gon is trying to close the doors to the other dimension. In the other one, on earth, detective Jung TaeEul is trying to protect someone’s life, people and love.

Why wait for it?: It is the return of top Hallyu actor Lee MinHo to the screen after his military service. The plot seems interesting too.

7- Kim SooHyun & Seo YeJi - "It’s Okay to Not Be Okay"

Summary: The story of a caregiver of a psychiatric ward who lives with 1.8 million won a month and of a fairy tale writer with an antisocial personality disorder who has an impulsive life.

Why wait for it?: It is the big return of top Hallyu star Kim SooHyun to the small screen since "The Producers" (2015). Many fans are looking forward to his comeback.

 

8- Joo Won & Kim HeeSun - "Alice"

When: On SBS

Cast: Joo Won & Kim HeeSun

Summary: It tells the story of a man and a woman who had to eternally separate because of death and who get to meet again like magic beyond the limits of time and dimension.

Why wait for it?: Joo Won will return to the screen after his military discharge with this fantasy drama. We are looking forward to it.

 

9- Park SeoJoon & Kim DaMi - "Itaewon Class"

When: From January/February on JTBC

Cast: Park SeoJoon & Kim DaMi

Summary: In an irrational world, the “hip” revolt of young people, who are united in stubbornness and courage, starts. Itaewon seems to have condensed all the world. In this little street, they are looking for their own freedom based on their values. “Itaewon Class” is their foundation legend. They open a food-related business.

Why wait for it?: The drama is based on a popular webtoon and it offers a quite intriguing background and story.

10- Kim SoHyun & Song Kang - "Love Alarm 2"

When: Might air in 2020 on Netflix

Cast: Kim SoHyun, Song Kang, Jung GaRam

Summary: “Love Alarm” is about people who want to know their true heart in a society where people use an app to find out who likes them. The season 2 will continue the story of season 1.

Why wait for it?: If you have watched season 1, you are also probably looking forward to season 2. The first season was addictive and season 2 need to end the story.

Summary: It is a youth drama taking place in the world of models.

Why wait for it?: Even if there is no much information available about the plot, it seems entertaining to have a drama about models and models' world.

 

12- Ji ChangWook - "LUCA: The Beginning"

Cast: Ji ChangWook (in talks)

Summary: The story is based on Charles Darwin's claim that "all living things have a common ancestry" in "The Origin of Species."

Why wait for it?: We are looking forward to Ji ChangWook in a drama with a never-seen topic in K-Drama.
