3 Things To Know About "Road To Kingdom" Before The Official Airing

Mnet "Road To Kingdom" is slowly gaining the interest of many K-Pop fans as the teasers and short performance clips for the participating K-Pop groups were released on YouTube. Kpopmap has also been covering on the show as more details are released. You can take a look here.

As announced by Mnet, "Road To Kingdom' will be airing every Thursday at 8 pm KST starting from Apr. 30. You can also check out the compilation of all the released videos through the playlist below.

Prior to the premiere of the show, Kpopmap had collected several interesting facts and you might be interested in finding out some of the responses from the netizens before watching it.

#1 Spin off of Mnet "Queendom"

Most viewers might already know that "Road To Kingdom" is the spin off of "Queendom" as they will be having male idols instead of female idols on the show.

Instead of having just one version, the producers mentioned that there will be two versions. “Road To Kingdom” will feature groups that had yet to received a win on music show and “Kingdom” will have famous male K-Pop groups.

The winning team from "Road To Kingdom" will then join "Kingdom" and continue the journey. It is expected that the second version will be air in the second half of 2020.

#2 Controversy of lineup

Since it was mentioned by the producers that they will be having groups which had yet to receive a first win on music shows, some fans were not pleased with the fact that groups such as THE BOYZand Golden Childare participating.

THE BOYZ had received their first win on "THE SHOW" with the track 'Bloom Bloom' in May 2019. Golden Child had also received their first win on Mnet "Mcountdown" for the track 'WANNABE' in December 2019.

#3 Difference in reactions from Korean fans and overseas fans

One reason why some fans are unhappy about their favorite groups appearing in the program is because of the way that the public view them. The main point of "Road To Kingdom" is to have the spotlight on K-Pop groups which have yet to receive them and show off their skills and potential.

With that being said, the public might perceive these groups as the 'less well-known' in the K-Pop industry and need a boost by joining the show.

Another reason is also due to the potential fanwar which might happen among various fandoms during the airing of the show.

Although this are just some of the concerns shared by fans, there is also a noticeable difference in reaction when the lineup were announced. Coming from the Korean fans, majority are unhappy with the participation of their favorite K-Pop groups. As for the reaction of overseas fans, many are supportive of the lineup and also anticipating the airing of the show.
