Over the past few years, streaming giant Netflix has built up an award-winning repertoire of K-Dramas, receiving praise from viewers and critics alike. From heart-fluttering "Love Alarm" to the gripping "Squid Game", the quality of these dramas only seem to get better with every release. Now, Netflix and hit K-Drama go hand in hand, causing subscribers to become excited with every new release.

This past weekend, sensational drama "Mask Girl" was added to the streaming giant's ever growing collection. The Netflix original stars veteran actress Ko HyunJung, NaNa, and rookie Lee HanByul who all play the pivotal main lead, Kim MoMi. Through the drama, we follow MoMi, an overlooked office worker by day and a beloved internet broadcasting jockey (BJ) by night. What makes her special is the fact that she wears a mask during every broadcast. With her signature accessory, she presents herself with the moniker 'Mask Girl' to the worldwide web.

What starts off as a slice of life and pining romance slowly transcends to that of a heart-pounding thriller. With its appeal, it ranked fifth on Netflix Worldwide on August 20th. There's a lot to like about "Mask Girl", so we've compiled a few reasons you should definitely add this drama to your watchlist.

Including the three women playing Kim MoMi and the supporting actors/actresses alongside them, "Mask Girl" employs a wonderfully put together cast. Netizens who have read the webtoon praise the staff for bringing together individuals who completely match the characters' visuals.

With this as the base, all that was left was the cast performance, all of which was met with an outpouring of love and praise. Everything from their portrayal of emotions to facial expressions brought the story to life. With their acting skills, "Mask Girl" practically jumps out of the screen, making sure you're immersed into the drama from beginning to end.

        2. Fast-Paced Yet Entertaining Story

"Mask Girl" strays far away from the typical 16-20 episode K-Drama blueprint. Instead, the Netflix original takes viewers on a swift rollercoaster ride in the span of seven. After a brief introduction, it kicks things into high gear and immediately propels us into the action. As fast as it might be, it doesn't allow for any detours and ensures everything from a company dinner to a tteokbokki selling grandma is made relevant to the story at hand.

        3. An Ode To Family

As we head into the tangled web of the drama's compelling plot, we find various familial bonds that remain at the very center of the story. A mother's love, acceptance from our loved ones, and family who are not related to us by blood. All of this and so much more were explored within the realm of "Mask Girl".

The series balances scenes of thrilling suspense with the strength of family under distress. The drama's ode to family ends in a sweet tune, encountering a clashing of cymbals and snares on the way there. The exploration of this theme will have you singing praises for the drama by the very end.

        4. Tackles Hard-Hitting Real Life Topics

Everyone loves a good nice and fluffy romance or a sidesplitting comedy. However, "Mask Girl" sits on the opposite end of the spectrum. But if that's what you're looking for, then you've come to the right place. The drama becomes a commentary on real life issues that plague the public around the world.

There's exploration of acceptance, parasocial relationships, bullying, and a desire to be loved, to name a few. "Mask Girl" comes with a mountain of depth just waiting to be explored. So if you're looking for something to deep dive into, then look no further.
