5 Extra Easter Eggs That You Might’ve Missed In YUKIKA’s ‘SOUL LADY’ MV

 

With everyone’s love and support, YUKIKA ‘SOUL LADY’ MV quiz event was wrapped with great success!

With that, Kpopmap would like to have this time to go over some of the questions that could’ve been a bit tricky and also share some easter eggs that can help your understanding of YUKIKA and the ‘Soul of Asia’, “Seoul”.

 

Han River

Han River is also one of the places that were featured heavily in YUKIKA’s MV. Han River is also known as “HanGang” is a major river in South Korea and the fourth-longest river on the Korean peninsula which is located in the center of Seoul.

Many people visit Han river to have a nice walk in the Han River Park, or just sit and chill with family and friends for a nice cold beer on a summer night with Korea’s famous delivery chicken, calling it ChiMac(Chicken + MacJoo(beer)). – Which you MUST do it when you visit Korea after the pandemic situation gets better-.

 

Itaewon

Another important place that was featured in the MV was a place in Seoul called, “Itaewon”. Itaewon is known as Seoul's International District and is the home of many foreigners in South Korea (Some of you might recognize it from the Drama, “Itaewon Class”)

After the Korean War(1950-1953), the United States Forces Korea(USFK) was established in “Yongsan” and the closest commercial district was Itaewon. With that, Itaewon became a place for various international cuisine which cannot be found in other parts of Korea.

Now, it is a popular spot for a lot of people in their 20s and 30s as there is various type of cuisines, bars, and clubs that almost everyone can enjoy!

NEON scene in ‘Soul Lady’??

In 2:40 of ‘Soul Lady’ MV, there is a scene that some of the fans might be familiar with! It’s a scene where YUKIKA is in a phone booth with a black coat on and Kpopmap wondered why this particular scene was included in the MV?

According to ESTIMATE, ‘NEON’ was a piece that portrayed Japan’s City Pop which is where YUKIKA was born in and in this scene from the ‘SOUL LADY’ MV, the lyric goes, “가끔 추억에 잠기지만 난 지금 내가 좋아 (Sometimes I’d be lost in memories but, I like who I am right now)”, expressing how she loves the person who she became while living in Korea.

 

 

Bouncing YUKIKA!

Almost at the end of the MV, you can see YUKIKA bouncing out of nowhere with her cute pink blouse! Well apparently for that scene, she was on a trampoline and she was jumping several times! Her smile, while she’s on the air simply, shows how excited she was for the scene! You can check the making film of her MV below!

 

YUKIKA’s ‘Soul Lady’ has certainly captured and portrayed the unique beauty of Seoul and has perfectly mixed it with the sounds of City pop. This special sound and color that producer, “ESTi” and YUKIKA had made, is something that will not be able to replicate in the near future.
