K-Pop idols are known for many things: singing, dancing, songwriting, modeling, acting, etc but quite a number of them are known for their comedy. Unlike the others listed, this skill is something that (in our opinion) comes natural and unforced, it's almost like an unlearnt extension of their personalities. They have to be witty, humorous, and energetic.

We are used to seeing our favorite idols being almost godlike, rocking out fiercely onstage but when they have a chance to sort of letting their hair down and just show this relaxed and "human" side, they're even more charming and entertaining. While many might not be able to express themselves as others due to their personalities (which is totallyunderstandable) others shine brightly when the lights come on the cameras roll.

Here are some of our favorite idols who are great at variety shows.

        1. SF9's InSeong

        MBC

Every group (at least most of them anyway) has that one member that is outrageously loud and hyper, the adrenaline boost of the group, taking the littlest funniest moment and exaggerating it, they're also the member others love to hate, and for SF9 that member has to be InSeong.

The idol is expressively hilarious, he never shies away from showing off his goofy side on camera, making both fans and other members laugh.

During SF9's recent appearance on "Weekly Idol" the cheerful idol immediately let his presence known pulling off tricks and exposing other members with his funny stories.

His clumsiness is even more cute and funny.

        2. SHINee's Key

The versatile idol is known for his bold and outspoken personality, which is a key ingredient for a variety show. He always speaks his mind and is very unfiltered, a trait that many fans admire about him.

He always has the best facial reactions which are perfectly enveloped by his quick-witted and creative comments.

His appearance on Jessi's YouTube show "Showterview" was one of the funniest guest appearances on the show, his cool personality and his willingness to have fun regardless of his image add up to his charm. He is a regular on "Amazing Saturday" and "I Live Alone". He also recently appeared on "Sixth Sense".

        3. SEVENTEEN's SeungKwan

        ELLE

Let's be honest,  SEVENTEEN members are all funny but no one holds a bone to Boo SeungKwan. His ability to pick up on things and turn every situation into a comedy is remarkable. He is quite keen and observant, picking the right time to comment on something or tease other members. His little side comments and quips always have the camera spanning across the room looking for him. He is a natural comic.

On SEVENTEEN's variety YouTube series, "Going SEVENTEEN" he seems to be one other member sort of pull their energy from, he is light-hearted and amusing with a great sense of humor,  making the show even funnier.

He is a guest favorite for shows like: "Idol Dictation Contest", "Quiz Alarm", and "You Quiz On The Block". We hope he stars in a funny K-Drama soon.

        4. ATEEZ' San

Now, ATEEZ might not be popular for their variety show appearances yet but these days, thanks to their impressive hit comeback album, "Fever:Part 3" they're everywhere and San is showing off a refreshing and goofy side that we just find interesting. His comic moments are so entertaining and funny. His sharp responses and the way he teases other members are entertaining to watch.

He is never shy from expressing himself and his jokes never fall flat, which is probably why he alongside WooYoung were invited to guest appear on the widely popular variety show "Amazing Saturday" which thrilled fans as they were getting more recognition for not just their music but their personalities.

Alongside other members of the group, he has made guest appearances on "Showterview", "Question Parade" on Hello82, "My Little Old Boy", "Kids Teaching Idols", and "Weekly Idol" to name a few.

We hope he gets more opportunities to star in other variety shows.

        5. EXO's Kai

        TVING

Kai has been busy! The idol is literally on almost every variety show on air right now and for due reasons too. He is funny! This is a side we have been starved off by the idol. We are used to the idol being so fierce and captivating on stage and while that will always be entertaining and we will always be here for. We have never really gotten this chill, yet a charming side of his personality.

He is so expressive with his banter and responses. He started off the year being a regular member of the variety series "The Devil Wears JungNam" as an "assistant" to Bae JungNam, where they apply their keen sense of fashion as they shop for outfits for interested individuals and these people get to choose which outfit they liked the best. Sort of like a makeover from a distance (probably due to covid restrictions).

He has also made several guest appearances on "Amazing Saturday" and its spin-off show "Idol Dictation Contest" alongside VIXX Ravi, Lovelyz MiJoo, and SEVENTEEN's SeungKwan. More recently he made guest appearances on the hit variety show "Sixth Sense" once again showing off his comic side and impressing viewers. Early this year, it was announced that he would be a regular on the tvN travel series "Honeymoon Tavern" alongside Tae Yoo, Kim HeeSun, Tak JaeHoon, and Moon SeYoon.

His warm interaction with a long-time fan made waves across the net, with netizens commenting on the touching moment, calling it "Sweet" and "Touching".

We sure hope to see him on more variety shows. He recently started a YouTube series called "KAIst" where he showcases his fun and charming personality, play games, and gives viewers a peak into his everyday activities.
