On Feb. 18, Korean news outlet, Hankook Ilbo reported that 6 K-Pop teams had disbanded within 2 months time.
If you remember, Melody Day disbanded in Dec. 26, 2018 and this year Jan. 27, Wanna One and UNB had ended their official activities too. In addition to that, on Feb. 11, girl group Wassup and on Feb. 18 B.A.P had disbanded. Lastly, after their fanmeeting, 9 Muses will also be disbanding on Feb. 24.
Even if they were to exclude project groups, Wanna One and UNB, it was still sad to see 4 teams to part their ways.
With that being said, there were many experts from the industry that mentioned that this might actually be the turning point and handover to the next generation of K-Pop idol groups.
New groups such as 'TWICE's sister', ITZY and 'BTS's brother', TXT have high possibilities of writing a new history for K-Pop. For example, within less than a week of debut, ITZY has already generated large amount of issues with their immense popularity.
What do you think of this phenomenon?
