7 Memorable Moments Of ASTRO's Cha EunWoo On "Master In The House"

        SBS

On Jun. 10, it was announced that actor Shin SungRok and ASTRO’s Cha EunWoo would be leaving the SBS variety show, “Master in the House.” Their final broadcast will be on Jun. 20, and both members will be focusing more on their main careers.

The remaining members will be Lee SeungGi, Yang SeHyung, and Kim DongHyun. There have not yet been any announcements about whether Shin SungRok and Cha EunWoo will be replaced.

Many AROHA took to Twitter to express their sadness at not being able to see Cha EunWoo on the variety show with the family-like crew anymore. So, we’ve compiled a list of some of his most memorable moments on the show.

        1. His official recruitment onto the show

When Cha EunWoo first started the show, the other members didn't know who would be joining them. He offered to become their refreshing and cute maknae (youngest member) wearing a suit and name tag as if he was entering a company. The other members, startled by his good looks, gladly accepted him and Cha EunWoo became the new 'daily intern' for that episode.

He even did an introduction in English (at the 03:05 mark), asking for fans to support the show because it is a really popular program in Korea. That is where it all started.

He joined the show as a fixed cast member in April 2020, in military-styled recruitment. When Kim DongHyun (who became a fixed cast member on the same day) asked him what his contribution to the show would be, Cha EunWoo stated that the show's average cast member age would be reduced and the members' intelligence average would increase, too. He was met with warm reactions by the other cast members.

        2. When the members danced to 'ONE'

The “Master in the House” members showed support for ASTRO’s latest comeback by dancing to their title track ‘ONE.’ They finished the song off by ending with the “Master in the House” introductory pose to make it their own! It's awesome to know that the other cast members were supportive of Cha EunWoo's career.

        3. When they got a perfect score on a BTS song at karaoke

Another memorable moment was when Lee SeungGi was making fun of Yang SeHyung for singing a song at karaoke very seriously. He mentioned that it's a variety show but Yang SeHyung's singing wasn't the least bit funny or entertaining. He and Cha EunWoo were even wondering about how it would feel if one didn't get many points after singing in such earnest. Much to Yang SeHyung's dismay, he only scored 35 out of 100 points.

The next song was 'Boy With Luv' by BTS. It started rocky with Kim DongHyun singing the lead completely off-key and off-tempo, but Cha EunWoo swiftly stepped in and saved the song. As a result, the members got a perfect score, much to their surprise.

        4. When he got competitive whipping dalgona

Dalgona is a famous type of coffee that was trending as a quarantine activity in Korea and can still be found on most café menus. If homemade, it can take forever to whip the ingredients (sugar, instant coffee, and boiling water) together until they form a fluffy consistency.

This made for the perfect timed challenge on “Master in the House.” Their master for the episode, Uhm JungHwa, had wanted to try making the recipe with a substitute for sugar - which the members thought would take even longer, but they accepted the challenge at the stake of doing the dishes.

They split into teams for the challenge and at seeing the progress of the other team (who were at an advantage with an ex-professional MMA fighter) getting ahead, Cha EunWoo got so competitive that he stood up and put in some fancy footwork to up the speed on their whisking. You can literally see the moment when the competitiveness kicked in and it is hilarious.

        5. When Cha EunWoo became a rockstar for a day

In another episode, the members got to be part of the legendary Korean rock band BooHwal. Not only did Cha EunWoo show that he could fit any style of music that he puts his mind to, but he also melted everyone's hearts with his vocals.

        6. When his soul left his body during a VR experience

Even though Cha EunWoo knows that he is very fearful, he stepped up to the plate when the members went for a VR experience. He tried the experience first, rocking the robotic VR goggle aesthetic, and was immediately amazed by how realistic the Gyrodrop theme park ride simulation seemed.

His reaction was hysterical the moment that the chair started moving as well. He even started screaming and clutching onto his safety belt. Check out the clip below to experience his soul leaving his body firsthand.

        7. When he was a senior mentor to K-Pop boy group Ciipher

Ciipher is a rookie K-Pop boy group that debuted in March 2021, under K-Pop legend Rain's company. The "Master in the House" cast members spent the day watching Ciipher practice and prepare for their debut. Cha EunWoo didn't take his role as a senior K-Pop idol lightly. He unflinchingly watched them practice, paying attention to detail.

When the group made a mistake during their dance and Rain scolded them, Cha EunWoo went up to them to give them some comforting words. He told them not to be so nervous because he also made mistakes when being assessed. We can only imagine how comforting those words must've been coming from such a successful industry senior.

Although the criticism turned out to be a prank, Ciipher surely found reassurance in his actions.

Although it is sad to see Cha EunWoo go, we know that it won't be long until we see him on screen again. Who knows, maybe he'll try his hand at a guest position on some other variety shows. We can't wait to see what kinds of projects he does in the future!
