Oftentimes, we tend to miss out on K-Pop idols who have exceptional vocal talents either because they're not the main vocalists of their groups, or they are slowly blooming into vocal artists, they are solo idols whom we might have not heard off, or they are were not originally vocalists of their groups but are recently showing off their vocal abilities.
Some male K-Pop idols do not get the shine they deserve for their amazing vocals and with this article, we hope to share some of the idols we believe are hidden vocal gems in K-Pop.
Please note that this list comprises idols from big groups who might not get as much spotlight irrespective of their talents, idols from relatively new groups, and solo idols.
1. PENTAGON's YeoOne
PENTAGON is a pack of gifted individuals making waves in the global K-Pop scene. With a group filled with some much talents sometimes not everyone gets their due shine or is put in the spotlight as much as they deserve. YeoOne is one of those idols. His vocal technique and tone are not just remarkable, it is very special. A tenor with a soul, his vocal texture is strong, powerful, raw, and so emotional but yet they also present a feeling that puts one at ease and soothes the mind.
2. Maddox
He probably has one of the most distinct voices in K-Pop. Soft, gentle but yet so powerful and dominating. His range and high notes are beyond just impressive, they are outstanding. His vocal texture seems to be best suited for ballads, due to the emotional feeling they convey, but he can seamlessly fit into any genre he chooses. Often at the helm of some of ATEEZ's hit songs, the singer-songwriter is definitely one to look out for. 3. Sam Kim
Sam Kim is one of the most recognized and acclaimed singer-songwriters in K-Pop and an OST favorite. His voice is so powerful and filled with an unrestrained feeling that completely engulfs the minds of his listeners. He sings with so much passion you are enthralled and pulled into his world and the story he tries to tell you through his music.
4. ONEWE's YongHoon
The leader of the rock band, ONEWE is an exceptional vocalist whose remarkable vocal ability makes fans and viewers often comment on how he deserves more recognition and adulation for his talents. Powerful, raw, gruff, sometimes sweet, delicate, and emotional, his vocal range and his technique are so wonderful. His breathtaking high notes would leave you in a moment of shock which will be quickly swept away by a moment of pure bliss and admiration for the idol and his talent.
5. VICTON's SeungSik
The leader of the multitalented K-Pop group, VICTON is a recognized vocalist who has wowed fans with his impressive vocals on not just VICTON's songs but also with OSTs for K-Dramas like "Find Me In Your Memory" and "My Unfamiliar Family". He is also a musical actor having starred as Yoon KiChul in the musical "I Loved You". His technique is quite impressive. His ability to effortlessly fit into any kind of concept and still project his vocals with so much power and feelings makes him an excellent vocalist.
6. ASTRO's Rocky
At this point, ASTRO's Rocky might be classified as an all-rounder because he is literally good at everything. He exudes pure main vocalist energy in the first mini-album "Restore" with fellow member JinJin. His vocal tone is so endearing and rich, presenting a color that can be described as cool, silky, and breezy. His range is impressive and you can tell just the amount of hard work he has put in to own his technique and deliver it so brilliantly.
7. Ha HyunSang
The singer-songwriter has a resounding vocal range that surely leaves a mark in the hearts and minds of his listeners. His tone is so soft and angelic, soothing and melodious. His high notes are just astoundingly beautiful too. His ability to switch his tones so swiftly and effortlessly shows off the fact that he truly is a gifted vocalist.
8. ONEUS' LeeDo
He is known for his deep voice which amplifies his fiery rap verses and makes it more thrilling. However, when he sings, there is so much richness in the texture of his tone. It feels raw, raspy, and emotional. His deep tone somehow doesn't make him need to try too hard to convey his emotions and captivates the listeners.
9. DRIPPIN's Lee Hyeop
The idol was a contestant on Mnet's reality music show "Produce X 101" and although he was sadly eliminated, he left a mark in the hearts of viewers who were expectedly waiting for his return to the music scene. Having made his debut with DRIPPIN in 2020, Lee Hyeop keeps showing off his impressive growth as a vocalist. His voice is so soft, gentle, sincere, and with a fiery spark that piques your interest immediately he starts singing. Still a rookie idol with his group, we believe in the nearest future, he will be recognized as the vocal force he aspires to be.
