Are you excited for the mystery romance K-Drama “The Witch,” starring GOT7’s JinYoung and Roh JeongEui? The drama is based on the K-Webtoon of the same name by Kang Full (author of “Moving”) and was released in 2013-2014. The K-Drama adaptation will premiere on February 15.

“The Witch” follows a man named Lee DongJin (JinYoung of GOT7) who falls in love with his former classmate Park MiJeong (Roh JeongEui), a woman called a “witch” because of the misfortune that happens around her. DongJin tries to rescue MiJeong from the pattern of death that falls around her.
Park MiJeong (Roh JeongEui)
MiJeong is an English translator. All her life, she has been alone and considered mysterious by others. Because of the aura surrounding her, men have fallen in love with her, only to die a mysterious death.
Lee DongJin (JinYoung)
DongJin is a popular data miner. One day, he hears MiJeong’s name on the subway and sees a man confessing to her. DongJin becomes determined to solve the mystery surrounding MiJeong’s misfortune. Risking his life, he investigates the cases of the men around her who got hurt.
Kim JoongHyuk (Lim JaeHyeok)
JoongHyuk is a detective and also DongJin’s best friend. He is initially skeptical of the existence of a curse surrounding MiJeong but later begins to dig into the case after DongJin goes missing.
Heo EunSil (Jang HeeRyung)
EunSil is a radio producer who is MiJeong’s only confidant. She tells DongJin about MiJeong when he approaches her and later helps JoongHyuk uncover the truth about MiJeong after DongJin goes missing.
The trailer to the K-Drama begins with MiJeong’s classmates whispering that she is a witch. It then pans to MiJeong admitting that weird things have happened around her since she was young. We then see a male student waving to MiJeong. Suddenly, the male student gets struck by lightning while riding his bike.
The scene then shows another male student talking to MiJeong, but he suddenly passes out. We learn from the next scene that he actually died. Rumors continue to spread about MiJeong’s involvement, and she is forced to leave the school.
Fast-forwarding to the future, DongJin is sitting on the subway when he hears a man profess his love to MiJeong. A series of accidents appear as MiJeong recalls what happened to the previous men who confessed to her. We then see the subway man on the ground, getting CPR by one of the subway riders. Then, DongJin is at a restaurant, asking an unknown person, “Do you think there is a witch?”

JinYoung appears in “Yumi’s Cells,” “Yumi’s Cells 2,” “The Devil Judge,” “When My Love Blooms,” and “He Is Psychometric.” Roh JeongEui has appeared in K-Dramas such as “Hierarchy,” “18 Again,” “Kill It,” and “Live Up To Your Name.”
Also, there is a Chinese movie adaptation of “The Witch” that came out in 2022. The movie follows 18-year-old He MeiZhen (Li Meng), who is treated like a witch because all the boys around her have ended up in accidents. The only person who doesn’t believe this rumor is Li XiaoDong (Yin Fang). However, he does not get the chance to confess to her before she disappears. He becomes entangled in the investigation and mystery surrounding MeiZhen.
