A Needed Fun Introduction To SuperM, The 'Avengers Of K-Pop'

Are you new to SuperM? Are you about to join SuperM fandom? Here is everything you need to know about the group in a fun introduction.

The seven-member K-Pop group SuperM was introduced as the 'Avengers of K-Pop'. SM Entertainment (one of the biggest K-Pop agencies) created this unique and talented group by gathering members from its existing popular groups. These groups have been receiving love from different generations.

The team is composed of SHINee's TaeMin, EXO's BaekHyun & Kai, NCT's TaeYong & Mark, and WayV's Lucas & Ten. They are still active in their groups while promoting under SuperM. The group is also international with members with non-Korean nationality and who can speak a lot of languages.

The group is under two labels SM Entertainment and Capitol Records. SM since debut had a clear intention to promote the group in the states. Also, the M is SuperM stands for "master" and "matrix".

1- Discography

The group has a futuristic concept with synchronized dance moves and addictive songs. The group debuted back in October 2019 with 'Jopping' and has proved their popularity across the globe with high sales and popularity.

BaekHyun

Position: Main vocal, Leader

From: Korea

BaekHyun is not the leader of EXO but he took on the role of the leader in SuperM after been chosen by other members. He is also the oldest of the team.

He is the mood maker of the team always joking around and brings up the energy of the team. With his jokes, he brought the members closer at their debut time.

The singer is known to be one of the best vocalists of SM entertainment and he is also the most selling male K-Pop solo artist of Korea (as of August 2020). His voice is beautiful, make sure to have a listen to it below.

TaeMin

Position: Main dancer, Main vocal, center

From: Korea

TaeMin is not the oldest in age but he is the one who has debuted the longest time in the team. Also, it is important to know that TaeMin and Kai have been best friends for so long that many were happy to finally see them promoting under the same group.

The idol has many years of experience because he debuted at the young age of 14 years old back in 2008. For the past years, TaeMin has been promoting as a solo artist recognized by many for his unique colors and dance styles. He also has a key position in SHINee.

TaeMin is very charismatic on stage but he is kind and a cutie off stage.

Kai

Born in: 1994

Position: Main dancer, Lead rapper, Sub vocal

From: Korea

Kai is one of the most looked after dancers in the K-Pop industry. A lot of idols started to dream to become an artist thanks to him. Once you start looking at his stage performances, you will keep on searching for them. Since his debut, he had tried on many concepts and he suited it all.

At first look, he looks to be too charismatic to talk to but that is not the case at all. He is kind and shy, he also looks adorable talking to kids (one of his passion).

TaeYong

Born in: 1995

Position: Main rapper, Lead dancer

From: Korea

TaeYong is well-known for his perfect dancing, stage presence, rap, and handsome looks. Since his debut, he keeps on showing how talented he is and he never ends to impress.

He can also look cold at first sight but that is not the case at all. He is caring for the members and in love with animals and kids. He also released a solo track 'Long Flight'.

Ten

Born in: 1996

Position: Main dancer, Lead vocalist, Sub rapper

From: Thailand

Ten's talents have no limits. He mesmerized fans with his dancing skills in different styles. But that is not all, he is also a talented singer who released solo tracks on SM Station.

That is not the end. Ten can speak a lot of languages with a high level of proficiency (Thai, English, Korean, and Mandarin). Members mentioned that he is always working hard on learning languages. He is truly hard working. TMI but he hates fruits and is talented in drawing.

Lucas

Born in: 1999

Position: Sub rapper

From: Hong Kong

Lucas is the sunshine of the group and he is an expert with jokes. He knows how to be funny and is the author of numerous memes and inside jokes. Lucas has also striking visuals that are not easily forgotten and his stage presence is no joke.

He is also always working hard even if he faced difficulties in languages. He manages to speak four of them (English, Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, and a bit of Thai). Lucas will continue to impress fans in the future.

Mark

Born in: 1999

Position: Main rapper, Lead dancer, Maknae

From: Canada

Since his debut, Mark has been active in all the units of NCT (excluding WayV). He is so talented that SM wants to include him in all the units, also making him a member of SuperM. With all these debuts Mark has just been showing all his different charms with very different concepts, he is truly versatile.

With his uncommon rap skills, he managed to impress the public when he appeared in "High School Rapper" and to impress fans who have been following him since debut. Mark is also smart and kind and also laughs a lot.

3- Must-know incidents and inside jokes for new fans

There are too many things you need to know when you enter the fandom. In this short period of promotion, the group had quite a lot of funny and touching moments. They might come from different groups but the SM family is strong. They become a team with strong bonds in a short time.

Here are some fun things you would like to know.

TaeMin is known to have hands of destruction (magic hands) and it did not miss as he was seen dropping by mistake the tablet at "TwitterBlueroom Live Q&A" and ended up being teased by other members. TaeMin also lost his phone (once again) but was rescued by Ten.

BaekHyun's iconic line: "Hey guys I'm BaekHyun but you can call me Bacon" in "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and Lucas's "So beautiful man" at the concert are also legendary.

Ten and Mark had a funny moment in the villa where they shared the room. Ten was waiting outside of the room so that Mark can use the bathroom. When he came back to the room, he started to tease Mark and ask him where was the air freshener.

Aside from jokes, the members are very supportive of each other. When they were promoting in English in the states, they proved to be really caring for each other helping with translation and stress.

The group also has a hand sign and rings (as long as members don't forget about it, yes Lucas).

4- Concerts & popularity scale

SuperM has debuted not too long ago but they have already performed in quite a lot of cities with a total of 136,000 fans in 13 concerts. They are also the first group of SM entertainment to have held an online concert with more than 75,000 viewers from more than 109 countries back in April 2020.

The group is the global model of the safety video of Korean Air with means that in the airplanes all the passengers got to see the members introducing the safety measures and the group's picture is on some exterior of aircrafts. This is world-class.

The group was also invited to different famous U.S. shows such as "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" proving their popularity overseas.

5- Current activities

SuperM is coming back with their 1st full album "Super One" (released Sept. on 25) along with 2 new singles '100' (Aug. 14) and 'Tiger Inside' (Sep. 1).
