Shaun‘s song ‘Way Back Home’, which he revealed was originally written for JYJ member JaeJoong, is a well known song not just for it’s memorable melody but also for the accusations it brought upon Shaun and his agency Limez Entertainment.
A while back, ‘Way Back Home’ managed to beat out BLACKPINK and TWICE, causing suspicions that chart manipulation was involved. In fact, even Park JinYoung of JYP Entertainment himself personally requested that an investigation be made into how his song was able to beat out TWICE.
Needless to say, it was both a moment of unbelievable success and moment of sadness for Shaun during that time as he faced an immense amount of criticism and accusations from not just fans of the girl groups but also South Korean netizens.
Shaun recently appeared on MBC Every1 ‘Video Star’ and opened up on how he coped with the sajaegi accusations. When asked if there was a possibility that Limez Entertainment used sajaegi without letting him know, he stated:
” A lot of my peers even suspected that I was involved in sajaegi, but my agency isn’t big enough to pull off such an act. I know that a lot of the attention I was getting was because of this issue, and it hurt. I stayed home a lot after that.”
Limez Entertainment responded to the accusations months back ago when the accusations began spiraling out of control that Shaun’s song was able to reach number one on the Melon charts through viral marketing and that they themselves didn’t know how the song was able to perform so well on the charts for sure.
Many people are divided on opinions to this date about whether Shaun and Limez Entertainment actually got themselves into a sajaegi chart manipulation deal with a third party agency.
