Let's take a look at ASTRO Cha EunWoo's performance in "Wonderful World" so far, providing a masterclass of duality and acting prowess.
Dyllan Mykel, Kpopmap EditorA mixture of unbelievable heartache, nail-biting suspense, and hotly sought after justice, "Wonderful World" is shaping up to be one of the hottest K-Dramas currently on air. Currently streaming on Disney+, the thriller/melodrama stars the likes of Kim NamJoo, Kim KangWoo, ASTRO's Cha EunWoo, and Lim SeMi.
It follows the story of Eun SooHyun (Kim NamJoo), a heartbroken mother who loses her son. When the law fails to hand out justice to her son's untimely passing, she takes matters into her own hands. She meets even more people who have suffered in a similar manner and together, they embark on a journey of much-needed healing while she helps them with their own struggles.
Among the people she meets is Kwon SeonYul, played by Cha EunWoo. Long gone are the days of EunWoo as just an innocent school boy. Now he's taking on a variety of different roles that showcase his acting growth.
His character in "Wonderful World" allows him to do just that, showcasing the duality of a person.
Note: this article may contain spoilers.
For one of his first appearances in "Wonderful World", he comes out as a shining beacon of hope to Eun SooHyun. They coincidentally run into each other while visiting their deceased loved ones. As it starts to rain, SeonYul offers an umbrella to SooHyun, and while at first, she declines his gesture, he remains persistent. He reminds our female lead that her son wouldn't want to see his mother sick, unknowingly becoming a bright shining light, reminding Eun SooHyun that there's a way out of the darkness.
SeonYul is nowhere near well-off, as he needs to work various jobs to keep afloat. Despite his unfortunate circumstances, he still makes it a point to stand up in the name of justice. Whether it's going undercover to unearth corruption or openly protecting Eun SooHyun from physical harm, SeonYul does not turn away from doing the right thing.
Early on we learn just how great SeonYul actually is. He exhibits a resilient strength that rivals the many men in K-Drama history. However, we also learn just how much trauma he carries upon his shoulders. Underneath this strength is a heartbreaking sadness of a child who lost their parents. Seeing this, audiences can't help but to cheer on SeonYul in his endeavors and that he might find more reasons to be happy in the end.
Cha EunWoo showcases a masterclass of portraying SeonYul, showcasing his utter growth as an actor. The duality he portrays has audiences firmly seated at the edge of their seats, waiting excitedly for the next episode.

"Wonderful World" is making quite the buzz both in Korea and internationally. Netizens are discussing a crucial plot point.
Ishani Sarkar, Kpopmap EditorOne of the hottest K-Dramas on air right now is "Wonderful World", streaming on Disney+.
"Wonderful World" is a revenge thriller/melodrama starring veteran actress Kim NamJoo, Kim KangWoo, ASTRO's Cha EunWoo, and Lim SeMi.
It tells the story of a mother who loses her child and is consumed by vengeance, causing her to take justice into her own hands. Fate brings her across other people with similar pains, and they heal together.
Only four episodes in, and fans are already hooked on the story, which is offering several points of intrigue and entertainment.
Spoiler Alert!
It is revealed in episode 3 of "Wonderful World" that Kang SuHo (played by Kim KangWoo), Eun SooHyun's husband, had been cheating on her while the two were apart.
SooHyun is mysteriously sent a package containing pictorial evidence of the same, and she confronts SuHo about it, after which they decide to bury the matter.
However, SooHyun discovers that he still might be involved with the woman when she follows him to a hotel.
What she is met with is not only shocking to her but also to viewers!
Most viewers guessed that SuHo must have been cheating on SooHyun with Han YuRi (Lim SeMi), who is like a sister to SooHyun.
However, the woman SooHyun sees SuHo meeting is actually their neighbor, Yoon HyeGeum (played by Cha SooYeon), who had just invited SooHyun over the day before to comfort her and thank her for being a wonderful mother and a good influence on her son.
We think it was not actually the next-door neighbor that SuHo cheated on SooHyun with.
A particularly notable scene in the first episode was when HyeGeum was filming her son right in front of SooHyun's house.
It looked almost as if she was trying to film something else entirely.
To be precise, it seems to us that HyeGeum knew about SuHo's adultery and wanted to get video evidence of the same.
This ties in with our previous theory that the woman SuHo was cheating with was the one who ran out of the house and left the gate open.
That is how their son could run out onto the road, leading to the terrible tragedy.
When HyeGeum said she would pay SooHyun back for her kindness someday, she probably meant that.
So, the reason why SuHo was meeting HyeGeum in the hotel was to convince her not to reveal the truth to SooHyun.
Many K-Netizens who are watching "Wonderful World" think that SuHo may have cheated on SooHyun with two women—first, the next-door neighbor HyeGeum, and then YuRi.
When SuHo gets a call from HyeGeum, he asks if she is the one who sent the photo to SooHyun.
This might mean that he is afraid she may do so out of jealousy.
Many netizens are also pointing out that SuHo may be the biological father of HyeGeum's son HeeJae (Jin JaeHee) because HyeGeum gave birth when she was young, and the child's father doesn't seem to be in the picture.
Either way, netizens seem quite convinced that SuHo definitely had an affair with YuRi.
While many fans are saying that the affair aspect is even more fun than "The World Of The Married", many others are mentioning that they're tired of the affair trope and want to see more of Kwon SeonYul (played by Cha EunWoo).
