“The movie is about a mentally challenged son, so what if he does put his hands on my breasts?”
The veteran actress has also expressed regret over the recent controversy saying she misremembered things and also added:

Meanwhile, netizens have been demanding explanations for other unrelated controversies involving the director such as past remarks about his movie ‘Snowpiercer’, in which he described a train as a “penis” and a tunnel as a “vagina”.
In addition, netizens are also currently bringing up other controversial statements that the director made such as the one from his interview when describing what a difficult time he was going through while making ‘Mother’, stating he wondered if he should go outside and kill a cat.
Below are some of the comments from netizens.
“Now how do you explain the statement about the cat.”
“The victim is apologizing.”
Kim HyeJa has also stressed that everything was discussed before the scene was shot during the filming of ‘Mother’, and has described some of the netizens who were rushing to accuse the director of sexual harassment as “monsters”. She has expressed regret and discomfort after reading comments left on news articles, saying it was also problematic of news medias to write about such things without checking the facts beforehand.
