Best Moments Of iKON’s Jay And DK As Judges At "The Indonesian Next Big Star"

Recently, iKON members Jay and DK flew back and forth from Korea to Indonesia to sit as judges and mentors of Indonesian singing competition program "The Indonesian Next Big Star," which lasted for 2 months.

This is indeed a historic moment for iKON, as this marks the first time an iKON member was tapped to be a judge in an audition program. Together Jay and DK impart their knowledge and expertise they gained with their experiences as artists, and also with their first-hand experiences with survival programs to the audition hopefuls they met. "The Indonesian Next Big Star" was a big success, raking in good ratings as it aired in Indonesia free TV channel RCTI+ and every episodes are trending every week, and it also successfully discovered wonderful and talented young singers. The show also symbolizes the new leap of Jay and DK as artists and as a little celebration, we compiled the best moments of the iKON members as first-time judges that are surely on the books.

1. Jay and DK as judges receive praise

2. New found friendships

One of the adorable moments in "The Indonesian Next Big Star" is the friendly atmosphere between the Korean and Indonesian judges. The close relationship with Jay and DK with their co-judges and Indonesian stars Sandhy Sandoro, Maia, Rossa, and Judika and their interactions is also a scene-stealer. During the press-conference for the grand finals, DK described his newly formed relationships with the judges and what he thinks about them — Judika is like a friend even with the age gap, Sandhy treats and takes care of them like a hyung, Rossa is like a very cheerful noona, and Maia is like a mother figure to the contestants. Both Jay and DK expressed how it is thanks to the friendly atmosphere of "The Indonesian Next Big Star" that they were able to do their duties as judges comfortably.

3. Jay and DK got praised for their character

Not only for their skills, but Jay and DK also got praised for their bright and kind personality. The iKON members radiated with their usual warm and bright aura known to fans which also successfully snatched the hearts of local TV viewers. They received comments like cute, handsome, funny, and not only pretty boys but also skillful and talented.

Not only the viewers but their co-judges also ended up adoring our Jay and DK. Judika, also one of the judges, described how Jay and DK felt like an old friend despite meeting for the first time, which he both expressed in an interview and also in his social media post.

4. Mini fanmeet with Indonesian iKONICs

This another adorable moment of "The Indonesian Next Big Star" happened behind the cameras, which is the direct interaction of Jay and DK with Indonesian fans during the show’s commercial breaks. During the breaks Jay and DK directly talked and interacted with fans, and some lucky fans also successfully got their autographs. Some of these moments got captured on fans’ phones, just like when iKONICs decided to directly ask an iKON world tour to the members themselves, which has been a long cry of fans since the start of the year.

5. Love Scenario iKOPLO Version

It took the internet by storm when iKON’s hit song ‘Love Scenario’ gets another version thanks to the judges. It is when Jay and DK taught the Indonesian judges how to sing 'Love Scenario' including the right pronunciation and in return, judge Judika taught them the Indonesian version of 'Love Scenario', a version to the accompaniment of Indonesian koplo music dubbed as iKOPLO, meaning iKON + koplo music. The video that was uploaded on Twitter which Jay quote retweeted himself has now almost a million views.

6. Jay and DK sub-unit performance

And the highlight of it all is when Jay and DK performed together in the stage of "The Indonesian Next Big Star" grand finals, giving us a glimpse of what a JAYxDK sub-unit will be like. Together Jay and DK burn the stage with a remix of their own songs ‘Love Scenario’ and ‘Killing Me’ which was first heard at ‘Kingdom: Legendary War’ where iKON took part as contestants. Performing a song that was first heard in a survival program now as judges was like a statement that iKON’s survival programs era are done, and that’s so sexy of them.

"The Indonesian Next Big Star" is a big part of Jay and DK, and also a big proud moment of iKONICs. Through the program they got to guide and advice young singers, which might be a dream for them at some point. All iKON members are amazing artists both as a group and as an individual, and it is evident on the number of young idols that look up to them.
