Boy Crush Monday: G-Dragon of BIG BANG
Who's Our BCM?
G-Dragon was born under the name Kwon JiYong on August 18, 1988. He had a fast start in his entertainment career as he first made his televised appearances at the age of 5. He was scouted by SM Entertainment when he was 8 years old, while on a ski trip. From 8 to 13, he trained under the label as a dancer, because he wasn't sure about what to do in his future. In 3rd grade, he developed an interest in rap and hip hop, even signing up for classes to help train him. While participating as he youngest rapper at the age of 13, he caught the eye of Sean from Jinusean. Thus, he was introduced to YG's CEO, Yang HyunSuk, who fell in love with the young boy's potential. After persuading him to cross over to YG, G-Dragon and YG have been together ever since. After 6 years of training, GD made his long awaited debut as the leader and producer of BIG BANG on August 19, 2006. The rest is history as he went on to create album after album of world found success, both as BIG BANG and as a solo artist.
Why We Crush
G-Dragon is now a legend among the K-Pop idols, as a majority of them look up to the idol's talents and skills. GD's composed and produced for BIG BANG's albums ever since their debut, and released globally renown tracks, such as 'Lies', 'Fantasty Baby', 'Bae Bae' and so much more. Needless to say, he's rolling cash with so much left over. Even still, G-Dragon never once fakes himself to match his wealth. The world of fans love him so much for his down to Earth personality while off stage, but other-worldly charisma and swag while on stage. Just because he's one of the greatest K-Pop artists ever lived, doesn't mean that he forgets where he comes from. He's often seen mentoring and spending time with his YG juniors to help them become the best that they can be.
Where We've Seen Him
G-Dragon not only rules the K-Pop kingdom, but he's also an honorary guest at some of the most exclusive events in the fashion industry. GD's always been known for his outstanding sense of style since his debut. With his creative fashion sense and innovative materials, he's befriended some of the top class representatives of the fashion world - ever hear of Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer and creative director of Chanel and Fendi? To solidify his stance in the industry, GD's collaborated with various clothing brands, as well as launched his very own called PEACEMINUSONE.
