To begin our breaking K-Pop news and celebrity gossip of this week, we begin with latest update on the Tiffany controversy.
1. Tiffany writes a longer and more detailed apology letter, and decides to lay low to deeply reflect on her actions.
As the hate on Girls’ Generation Tiffany for her past actions continues to see no end, the idol puts in more effort to convey her regret and sorrow. For the past weeks, netizens have demanded Tiffany to write another apology letter, siting that her first letter was too short and void of sincerity. To meet their demands, Tiffany posted another hand written letter on her Instagram page with detailed description of her reflection, regret and apology for her actions. Furthermore, SM Entertainment just announced this week that Tiffany will not be attending SM’s company-wide 20th anniversary trip hosted by Father SM. Instead, Tiffany will be taking the time to farther reflect on her actions and take a leave of absence from all activities.
2. Oh My Girl’s YooA is accused of lying on broadcast on multiple occasions.
Netizens have been enraged over YooA’s supposedly faulty statements on broadcast, demanding that the idol fess up and apologize. First, YooA declared that she was a dance major at Sejong University, but it turns out that she was actually a practical dance major student from Sejong University’s Global Knowledge Institute. Although a part of Sejong University, the SUGKI is considered a lower ranking university, where its students take very different classes from the students of Sejong University. Secondly, YooA appeared on “Radio Star” saying that she decided to be a singer after an incidence with a stalker during her high school days. However, a post to a dance academy from her middle school days surfaced, where she wrote: “I will be attending middle school this year. Am I too young to attend (the dance academy)? My dream is to be a singer.” Lastly, an article arose where YooA claimed to have recorded 13 seconds flat on a 100m run during her elementary days, but a national event silver medalist in an elementary level run recorded 13.15 seconds on a 100m run. Considering that YooA failed to even pass the preliminaries in the 50m run from ISAC, netizens find it difficult to believe YooA’s past statements.
WM Entertainment spoke up to clarify that YooA’s education was wrongly marked in an interiew, and that the company will now be making its corrections to the correct institution. The representatives have yet to clarify on other matters.
3. EXO-L rage spreads towards Lee Teuk after being mistreated by the MBC crew for “Star Show 360”.
Controversy arose when EXO-Ls went to see their EXO idols at MBC’s new variety show, “Star Show 360”. Due to poor management by MBC, EXO-Ls were forced to wait in line for over 20 hours just to see their idols. They were mistreated by the staff for being lazy, despite having waited 20 hours only the first 500 were allowed inside, and the fans were only able to see their boys for 3 meager performances, when they had believed that they had been invited for the whole recording. Lee Teuk, who is one of the main MCs for the program, was caught in the wildfire as EXO-Ls demanded an explanation of how a fellow SM senior could let this happen. When EXO-Ls demanded that he apologize, E.L.Fs as well as other netizens, came up to his defense on why Lee Teuk had no reason to receive such hate. With the fandoms up in arms, Lee Teuk and EXO have spoken up about the controversy. Lee Teuk took to Twitter to calm the hate by explaining how there was no need to fight, and EXO’s leader SuHo left a heartwarming message during their 1st place win to the EXO-Ls about how the EXO oppas know what’s going on even when it seems that they don’t.

4. Johnson & Johnson responds to claims of Sulli and Hara’s controversial lolita photo.
Sulli and Hara were caught in a controversy when Sulli posted a photo of the pair in what seemed to be a lolita-like concept. Although Sulli had posted the photo as a unique friendship photoshoot with Hara, netizens were disturbed by its underlying lolita fashion and decided to notify Johnson & Johnson about the representation of the brand. In response to the claims, Johnson & Johnson wrote back with claims of “not condoning the objectification of any persons” and the “appreciation of flagging this misrepresentation of the brand”. The world no awaits if the mogul company will take action against the idols or if they will let bygones be bygones.
5. #JangHyunSeung_Thank_You_For_Leaving trended on Twitter Korea after a broadcast from “Hit the Stage”.
BEAST fans appeared to be happy that the past member left the group after a disturbing footage from “Hit the Stage” aired this week. On the recent episode, Jang HyunSeung is seen practicing with his dance crew. When the idol expressed how he wished to wear shoulder pads for the performance, the dance crew members inserted toilet paper rolls into their shirts and started dancing to what looked like BEAST’s dance for “Ribbon”. To the BEAUTYs, the footage appeared as an offensive mock of their idols. When HyunSeung made no attempts at stopping the mockery, fans left posts on his Instagram requesting an explanation. The singer in return responded to an individual’s post with a middle finger emoticon. With no effort from the “Hit the Stage” idol to explain his actions, BEAUTYs and netizens got the good-riddance hashtag trending on Twitter for over 5 hours.
