BTS Fans Want iKON Fans To Stop Using The Phrase “Purple You” Amidst B.I Scandal

YG Entertainment

Former iKON member B.I recently had his contract with YG Entertainment terminated after news reports of him attempting to purchase drugs surfaced online.

At the moment, a substantial number of fans are protesting against the agency’s decision to cut the K-Pop idol loose, as they feel he did nothing wrong. In fact, a petition on Change.org currently has over 450,000 fans’ signatures, saying that B.I shouldn’t have to leave iKON for the recent event.

And iKON fans have been using the phrase “WePurpleYouHanbin” and “WePurpleYouiKON” recently on social media to express their concern over the recent incident.

However, BTS fans have not been too pleased by it as they have stated the phrase “WePurpleYou” or “IPurpleYou” was made by and for BTS and ARMY.

iKONICs, we should use ‘I love you’ with a red heart as red is iKON’s national colour. It means alot to our adoring members. If anyone comes and tells not to use it for whatever reason, I am seriously asking you to zip it!

Y’all r so fixated by these groups that you’re throwing hates towards each other S T O P T H E H A T E S T A R T T H E L O V E it doesn’t matter how many army’s or ikonics cuz in the end of the day BTS n IKON r still friends so stop these BS… you’re not causing a sense for just the groups but you’re causing for each members in the groups quite throwing hates on eachother it’s literally a waste of time

I understand fans that support more than one group may get things twisted. But considering how huge BTS is and if your a true ARMY you know dam well of their struggle to be where they are. It’s because of the love between bts and army that has helped them be known around the world and no other artist shares what we share with BTS. Bighit and BTS are transparent with army and what we have with them is special! So don’t justify you using something so special to us army and bts with other artist as you being army… Read more »

if you think about multis aren’t loyal to one group, so… do their opinions even matter when it comes to within the fandom? it’s like a board member vs the member who appears once a year

I understand that ikon fans wanna show their love to B.I because of the recent drama and etc, but there are many ways to love and support him. “I purple you” is a VERY special thing made by taehyung and is used by bts and armys to show our love to eachother. It is like our own language and its something that separates them from other groups. Its only meant for us to use to eachother. Yes there are some multi fans, but they should understand that “i purple u” is to stay within bts and the fandom. Like i… Read more »

As much as I love BTS, I doubt that anyone before Taehyung hasn’t already said “I *insert colour name here* you” before…

“I purple you” is copyrighted the same way saying “I heart you” is. By that, I mean it isn’t, so is this really worth getting upset over? I’ve already seen people explain why this phrase has meaning to them, the group and the fandom, but I still see no issue. Let the ARMYs support how they wish, please.

No actually, i have never heard people before v and armys say i purple u as why would they? There are many other ways to say i love u, why cant they just leave that phrase alone? It’s like a special thing for armys and holds a deep meaning to us.

I’ve seen some of the tweets with this hashtag, and seriously Armys are the one who used it to support the iKONICs…

honestly, i kinda agree ???? if it’s a term used by army’s specifically, made by them with a special meaning behind it, it won’t hold the same meaning with any group. B.I could be looking at this and be like “wtf does this even mean?” because it’s not a public thing and not everyone knows wtf it means. y’all can express your love just by saying “I love you,” right????

There are many ways to say I love you,but this phrase is something only the fandom and artist can use its something big for them.Other fandoms using wouldn’t seem so ok due to the fact that its a inside thing between them.I know they have freedoms and everything but technically ARMY and BTS own the phrase,it even says so in the dictionary. Please respect it a bit and come up with something new and unique!❤
