YG Entertainment

YG Entertainment seems to have a lot to explain to fans.

Despite having several talented K-Pop idol groups such as WINNER, iKON, and many more whom that are kept 'in the basement' as fans usually say, the entertainment agency saw a substantial fall in the stock market and is now considered the smallest of the big three K-Pop agencies (SM, JYP, YG). In fact, with Big Hit Entertainment having surpassed the big three, some netizens have called it the end for YG.

If we look at the facts laid out about the activities of third generation idol groups under YG Entertainment, it's easy to see in plain sight that there's not much happening in comparison to other idol groups.

WINNER released two albums up until 2016, meaning they released one album per year. iKON released a total 14 songs in a period of two years (up until 2017). In short, they should have been much more active during that time period as it is crucial for any idol group that gains momentum after debuting.

With all the members of BIGBANG, excluding SeungRi, serving in the military, YG Entertainment seems to realize a little too late that they have not been paying attention to the market.

Hopefully, YG Entertainment will be able to produce the right heir to BIGBANG's legendary status legacy instead of diminishing even further over time.

BLACKPINK's upcoming comeback is scheduled to be released on June 15th.

YG has lost status, prestige and value, BP cannot stop the slide but can lessen the bottoming out. They'll have to work their way back but with their resources it shouldn't be too difficult, they have many branches including sports figures, models, clothing, actors, cosmetics and event and concert promotions. Papa YHS better make shrewd business decisions, but that's what is holding them back in the first place.
