The actor debuted in 2007 but started to gain popularity with the drama "King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo" (2010) as the antagonist of Yoon ShiYoon. His first real breakthrough was with the hit drama "The Bridal Mask" (2012). He earned huge popularity in and out of Korea.
His second popular drama was "Good Doctor" (2013) for which he was praised for the perfect acting of an autistic savant. In 2015, he acted with top actress Kim TaeHee in the popular thriller medical drama "Yong Pal" (2015).
Joo Won also acted in the dramas "Ojakgyo Brothers" (2011), "7th Grade Civil Servant" (2013), and "Naeil's Cantabile" (2014). In 2017, his last drama was "My Sassy Girl" before leaving for the mandatory military service. He was discharged in February 2019 and fans have been eagerly waiting for his 2020 drama "Alice".
During his career, Joo Won also acted in movies such as "Fashion King" (2014), "Fatal Intuition" (2015), "Sweet Sixteen" (2016), etc. He was active in variety shows as he was the fixed cast of "2 Days & 1 Night" from 2012 to 2013 and he was also cast in numerous musicals.
