K-Pop, as we know it today, was built on the backs of generations of brilliant artists who paved the way. The future of K-Pop is now, and the 4th generation girl group CSR is here to remind us that it is in safe hands.
For those who might not know, CSR is a 7-member girl group under A2Z ENTERTAINMENT - POPMUSIC. The members SUA, DUNA, GEUMHEE, SIHYEON, SEOYEON, YUNA, and YEHAM all debuted at the age of 17. The name CSR is an abbreviation for the Korean word "첫사랑" (Cheotsarang), which means "First Love" and with such a name, the group aims to portray the myriad interpretations of first love that we experience in life. So, stanning CSR is like going on a journey of growth and the girls make sure that we love every moment of it.
After debuting in July of 2022, CSR shot to global fame, establishing themselves as a brand new force to be reckoned with. Soon, the group earned their first music show win with '♡Ticon' on KBS' "Music Bank". Fans and critics alike were quick to recognize their unique style that easily stood out in the musical crowd. Now, they're back with their 2nd mini album, "DELIGHT", accompanied by the title track 'Shining Bright' - an ode to the dazzling splendor of youth. The characteristic anthemic quality of CSR's music lends itself to 'Shining Bright', leaving us enchanted and addicted.
In light of this comeback, Kpopmap had the incredible opportunity of interviewing these young geniuses, and the conversation that followed was not only refreshing but also deeply endearing. CSR is a group that celebrates the innocence and playfulness of youth and the
importance of the present. Can you individually tell us about one goal you have for the present?
This year, I wish we could go on a world tour. I would like to meet and communicate with our MAEUMs abroad that we couldn’t meet very often last year. I would like to also conduct a fan meeting or a concert, if possible.
SUA
This year I wish more people know about the group CSR. And I wish we could be ranked over 50th in the music chart!
GEUMHEE
There are fans supporting us from all over the world. We would like to tour across the globe and make a lot of happy memories with our fans from abroad. And have concerts in many different countries.
SIHYEON
We couldn’t go last year, but this year, we would definitely go abroad and communicate with our MAEUMs living far away.
SEOYEON
We didn’t have much time to meet with our foreign fans because it was right after our debut, but this year we would like to make great memories with our MAEUMs by going abroad. Also, we wish to be on the end of the year award stages! So we will try to show the new sides of CSR while performing this year.
YUNA
I wish more people would listen to the title track of our album "DELIGHT" – ‘Shining Bright’, and gain the unique and bright energy of CSR. And someday we would like to have a concert with only our songs.
DUNA
This year, I would like to go abroad, which we couldn’t do last year. I would like to visit YUNA’s home country Japan, and the USA too. Also, just like we had our first 1st place in a music broadcast show, I would like to achieve 1st place with this album, too.

Your group name “CSR” means “First Love”. Which song would you say was your first love in music?
My first love song is "Only One" by BoA Sunbaenim!
YUNA
The song of first love for me is "I" by Girls' Generation's TaeYeon Sunbaenim. It is the first song that made me want to become an Idol!

All the members of CSR are of the same age. While living together, are there any advantages or disadvantages of being the same age?
Since we all are the same age, we might get distracted and talkative, but we share everything like school friends and talk freely to each other in our daily lives. And that’s the biggest advantage!
DUNA
When we are together, we get hyped up. Also, we share a lot of interests, and have many things in common. But when we get hyped up, we all talk too much, so we have to manage our talk once in a while.
YUNA

CSR’s concept is ever-evolving and is meant to change as you grow older. What kind of concept are you looking forward to the most in the future, and when do you think you'll be able to take on that concept?
Because all of our albums are based on the theme of our age, we will show our fans CSR growing and becoming more mature every year! Someday I would like to present a dark concept that only CSR can show! Also, I think everyone has a different image of their first love. We would like to portray a different first love every year, so we will try as many genres as possible!

Your second mini album, “DELIGHT” emphasizes a message of loving yourself. As 18-year-olds who are ready to step into a new world, have you discovered anything new about yourselves that you have fallen in love with?
I found out this year that I am very good at multitasking! So I like the fact that I can finish many tasks at once, and I think it’s my new strength.

I discovered that my personality makes people around me happy. I really like myself when I can make the staff members and our group members feel better when we are working together!
SEOYEON

Is there anything you’ve found out about yourself because of another member?
There’s something I found out, thanks to YEHAM! When we were living in a dorm, I had to wake up early because of school, while DUNA and YEHAM woke up a bit later. I thought I wouldn't sleep talk, but YEHAM told me that I do. That was the first time I found out I also sleep talk!
GEUMHEE
Not just one member, but there’s something I found out because of our members! I thought it’s natural to plan a schedule for tomorrow accordingly, but it wasn't. While living with our members, I found out that not everyone does that.
SIHYEON
Your title song, ‘Shining Bright’ has a wonderful meaning of finding the brightest light within yourself. What is your way of cheering yourself up and finding your own light when you’re having a difficult day?
I think my family is my light. When I’m depressed and sad, I feel a lot better when I talk to my parents. Also, they give me motivation, and they tell me that I am shining, and only family can do that. Therefore, family is the light that shines only on me!

At the age of 18, is there anything you’re excited to do that you haven’t been able to do before?
While I’m 18, I would like to connect and communicate with more MAEUMs!! I like communicating with MAEUMs, so I would like to do that more often than when I was 17 years old. Now that I’m 18 I think I would have more things to talk about with our MAEUMs. So I’m very excited to have more conversations with our MAEUMs!
SEOYEON
I think an 18-year-old SUA would have more relaxed performances and facial expressions than a 17-year-old SUA, so I’m very excited about the stage we would present to our fans!
