All-S Company

Rookie K-Pop idol boy group D-CRUNCH recently made their official debut with their singe 'Palace' and has managed to gain quite a bit of attention from the K-Pop community for both good and bad reasons already.

While it's becoming increasingly harder for rookie groups to get their names out in the scene these days, these guys have managed to generate a small hype before their debut and after it as well. That's the good reason.

Now the bad reason is that many South Korean netizens and Pentagon fans have been accusing them of plagiarism. Doesn't sound like an ideal scenario for any idol group, especially for one that's just starting out.

The first accusation of plagiarism is for the album poster.

So far, the majority of people expressing their opinions on the matter have sided with Pentagon, saying that the plagiarism is a bit too obvious.

The posters are totally different photographies, they have sky as background and the camera is from low angle. So? How is this plagiarizing? Whole composition of photography and colors besides sky are different. Concept is similar, so what. These days The boyz, Seventeen and Golden child had comebacks with similar concepts, that's not plagiarizing. Also, their hand signal is similar because Pentagon has pentagon sign - 5 angled shape, while… Read more »

For the first reason, that type of shot (with like the members on a wall with the sky in the background) and angle are fairly common among idol groups. I might have been more concerned in they were in relatively the same positions and stances, but there are clear differences in the positions of Pentagon members and D-Crunch members. The second reason, You have a limited amount of fingers and finger dexterity (as well as taking into account the individual length that varies depending on the person). So its hard to find a hand symbol for a group that A.… Read more »
