Do You Want To Be A K-Pop Hit Sensation? Just Pay $90,000
If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a K-Pop singer but feel like you don’t have what it takes to become a successful one, there’s good news. All you have to do is save up and cash out $90,000 and you’ll be #1 on the Melon charts in no time.
But your heart knows better right? Unfortunately, such isn’t the case in the music industry. According news agency E Daily, an interview about chart manipulation took place with a broker in China. Additionally, video footage showing chart manipulation in real time was also revealed to the public.
A singer or an agency could hire a broker who would mass generate ID’s on music sites and then begin mass streaming the requested song, pushing it up on the charts. But of course, it all comes with a price. Not just money, but also potentially ending up with a bad reputation as well. Such seems to have been the case for South Korean singer NILO.
Brokers have also revealed that there are more agencies and artists who approach them first, requesting their services, than brokers approaching them. This obviously means that there may be more foul play within the music industry than we expected.
