There's a brand new webtoon up for being adapted into a K-Drama, and it is none other than the popular fantasy sunjong manhwa "Dear Actresses". This is one among many more webtoons that have been announced and confirmed for an adaptation, much to the joy of K-Drama and webtoon lovers all over the world.

"Dear Actresses" Webtoon

"Dear Actresses" tells the story of a young college student Han ChoWon who is heartbroken over her ex-boyfriend So WooJoo, and is having a difficult time navigating her feelings. She is suddenly possessed by the soul of the beloved actress Cha Eugene, known as the "Nation's Goddess", who is in a coma from an accident that she has no memory of. To find out the truth about her accident, Eugene directs ChoWon towards acting, where she is perceived as a copycat of Cha Eugene and looked down upon by Gong YeonJun, an actor with national prestige. Even though she is embarrassed in front of So WooJoo, who is also an actor, through ups and downs, trials and tribulations, Han ChoWon discovers her own knack for acting, develops her unique style, and becomes a lovely actress in her own right. At the same time, with ChoWon's help, Eugene gets closer to finding out the reason why she is in a coma.

Cha Eugene, although popular, struggles with being acknowledged as a fine actress. However, she is fierce, independent, charming, and, most importantly, knows how to stand up for herself, which is why she has a "girl crush" image. Despite her incredible acting skills, public attention is focused on her scandals with fellow actor Gong YeonJun. On the other hand, ChoWon's happiness and identity were always related to WooJoo, who she dated since high school. Her whole world revolved around him, so when they broke up because his company banned him from dating, her very sense of self was lost, and she didn't know who she was anymore. Some time later, when ChoWon happens across WooJoo while delivering chicken as a part-timer, she sees girl group member Ruby in his house and assumes that they are dating. On her way back, blinded by anger, ChoWon's scooter gets into a collision with Eugene's car, which injures her, and puts Eugene in a coma.

The webtoon is a coming-of-age story with themes of female empowerment, self-acceptance, and self-love that make for a wholesome and entertaining read. The art style is exceptionally pretty and heart-fluttering, amplifying the immersion of the webtoon manifold.
