The "2019 K-Pop Together Festival" in Lewisville, Texas was its first and hopefully not its last. They had food, fun, merchandises and most importantly, Weki Meki and Chic Angel.

When I arrived, they were having a dance competition on the stage, which was very entertaining. The talent of these fans were breathtaking, replicating famous K-Pop dances like BTS’s 'Blood Sweat & Tears', HyunA’s 'Red' and TXT’s 'Crown' almost perfectly. One of the judges for the contest was former BP Rania member Alex Reid.

I talked with her briefly, she was very nice. Later, I saw her teared up, hugging a fan who was also crying. It was a very sweet moment. After watching so much dancing, I started to get hungry. They had more than enough food, it was hard to make a choice of what to eat! So I did the sensible thing and just ate everything. To work off this meal, I decided to go into the vendors area, where is the location of my only complaint about the festival.
They had a lot of albums and merchandise for sale, but not enough Weki Meki. I understand that in the climate of American K-Pop sales, male groups reign supreme, especially BTS, and out of the few female groups that do sell well here, unfortunately Weki Meki isn’t on that list. But Weki Meki was the headliner of the festival and the most I could find was one album at one vendors shop. I don’t find this the fault of the festival so much as the vendors, but I hope it’s something that’s fixed for next year.

Before Chic Angel hit the stage, they had DJ Senseisian warming up the crowd and he did a great job of it. He created a phone number people could text for requests and I believe he said he got thousands of texts in the first hour. I totally believe it, the crowds were coming in by the droves. The amount of people won't be noticed by me until after the concert had ended and I saw a video from Weki Meki’s Instagram. Chic Angel hit the stage and hit it hard.

I’ll be completely honest, I didn’t know much about Chic Angel before coming to this festival. I had watched their video 'Like It' once back when it came out. They were captivating, entertaining, and very talented. They even did a great cover of 'Boy With Luv' by BTS. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on them going into the future.
After Chic Angel left, we got DJ Senseisian to fill the gap until Weki Meki arrived, which I feel was a little later than expected. I overheard they had some mic problems, so that could have been why. When they did, it was worth the wait.

Unfortunately, YooJung couldn’t make it as she is on hiatus right now due to health issues, but Weki Meki performed immaculately without her. They did express many times that they wish she could have been there, and we wished she could have too. Weki Meki obviously missed her. They also expressed that they wanted to try Texas barbecue while here, much to the crowd’s enjoyment.

They interrupted the concert to do a 20-minute Q&A which was amazing, because it made it feel much more intimate and small that it was. DoYeon said she was afraid that since this was their first show in the US, that no one would show up. She was very wrong. Their set was only around 50 minutes, but it felt like a full concert with how much hype and raw talent that they showed.

The 2019 K-Pop Together Festival in Lewisville was a huge success, I’ll be watching out for Chic Angel’s next comeback, and I hope I get to see Weki Meki again in Dallas soon, hopefully with YooJung this time.
