Exclusive Review: 8TURN 1st World Tour "8TURNRISE" In Dallas

On a cool spring day, TURNING lined up in front of the fairly new venue in the Design District of Dallas, The Echo Lounge and Music Hall to see 8TURN on their first world tour. After a slight delay, the lights dimmed and eight men appeared in front of us.

8TURN debuted on January 30th 2023 under MNH Entertainment with the members JaeYun, MyungHo, MinHo, YoonSung, HaeMin, KyungMin, YunGyu, and SeungHeon. JaeYun was previously seen on “Boys24” and “MIXNINE” while KyungMin was seen on “I-LAND”. They have released 3 EPs; “8TURNRISE”, “Uncharted Drift”, and “Stunning”, and a digital single with “LEGGO”. They also were seen on “Road to Kingdom: Ace of Ace”.

They opened the show with their third title track ‘RU-PUM PUM’ and proceeded to perform ‘WALK IT OUT’, ‘WONDER’, ‘EXCEL’, ‘I Want You Now’, ‘Say My Name’, ‘WE’, ‘TIC TAC’ and ‘LEGGO’. YunGyu and SeungHeon did a cover of ‘Not Like Us’ by Kendrick Lamar. MyungHo, HaeMin and KyungMin did a cover of ‘Black Swan’. They also did a Q&A with fan post-it notes and a dance challenge to where the winners could get an extra hour of sleep before getting into hair and makeup. Four of the guys danced to TXT’s ‘CROWN’ when the other four did EXO Kai’s ‘Rover’. I believe ‘Rover’ won.

They talked about their time in Dallas so far. They had Texas barbecue and Korean fried chicken and after the show, they said they were going to go to Whataburger and Bucee’s. They also complimented the weather in Dallas (which is the first time I’ve ever heard a K-Pop artist do that). The audience informed the group that it definitely gets hotter and that it was unseasonably cool. HaeMin and MinHo were very shocked.

They ended the show with ‘Like a Friend’, ‘ING’, and ‘You Are My Reason’. They brought energy from beginning to end. I do wish they had ‘Heartache’ on the setlist, especially since they don’t have many songs in their discography, but that was the only disappointing aspect of the show. 8TURN did a great job making sure everyone had an amazing time, ensuring that every fan got some sort of eye contact and a wave.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting their next comeback and their next world tour. I hope they get all of the love they deserve and can fill out an even bigger venue next time.
