SEVENTEEN met CARAT for a fourth edition of "SEVENTEEN In CARAT LAND". It has been around 1 year and 5 months since their last fan meeting. This time because of the COVID-19 pandemic, members have met fans online on Aug. 30.

Kpopmap was invited to this over four hours fan meeting seen by CARAT from 121 countries. The show had 14 multi-view screens and subtitles were available in multi-languages for a lot more enjoyment for fans.

S.Coups, JeongHan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, WonWoo, WooZi, The8, MinGyu, DK, SeungKwan, Vernon, and Dino had prepared a lot for the fans. The fan meeting was fun and filled with members' laughter.

Opening & Opening VCR

CARAT started to enter the online fan meeting (showing music videos and other content) one hour before the official start. The tension was high in the chat room with “ I am shaking”, “I love you”, “My heart is fluttering”, "Wow", and more.

The boys opened the fan meeting with a soft VCR. Like on the official poster, they were at home with cute clothes and each member had a closed-up to their smiles.

Start & Stages

SEVENTEEN happily opened the fan meeting with 'My My'. Members cutely appeared on a boat prop on stage like in the music video of the song.

Members then greeted fans. "SEVENTEEN In CARAT LAND" is usually held once a year and members were glad to meet fans again. On stage, the tension was high and the atmosphere was filled with good vibes.

CARAT was shouting in the comments and members were reading fans' unique and funny nicknames. As they were joking around, one fan commented “So chaotic, I can't” which Joshua pointed out.

Members did their special chant of CARAT LAND and moved on to their stages. They performed to 'Let me hear you say' and 'Together'.

For 'Together', the members had prepared a special stage for fans. It was a very sweet surprise! At the concert venue, there was one lighted Carat Bong (lightstick) on each seat and the huge screen on the audience seats showed a huge Carat Bong. Members holding lightsticks went to the not-so-empty seats and sang. In the end, they said: “CARAT, we miss you”.

First Corner: "SVT News Room"

Next on the agenda was the first corner of the fan meeting. It was the "SVT News Room" with JeongHan as the main anchor. Members updated fans on the group and individual activities.

S.Coups mentioned that the group's 7th mini album "Heng:garae" was the best-selling album ever of the group with 1.2 million sales in 9 days. The 'Left & Right' challenge was also popular among K-Pop idols and fans. Members thanked fans with hearts and sweet messages one by one for these amazing results.

WooZi then talked about the popularity of SEVENTEEN's unique and funny contents "GOING SEVENTEEN". Their TV shows gained a lot of views on YouTube and it a hot issue among CARAT.  Vernon mentioned the red ginseng game popular among members.

Joshua found a new hobby. He likes to make bracelets and he offered some to other members. He also made one for CARAT. SeungKwan updated fans on his ankle injury. He is recovering quickly and apologized for worrying fans. For the fan meeting, he participated in the stages he could do only. As for JeongHan, he lost weight, and these days he is interested in sports especially wakeboard.

After this first part of the corner, there was a huge change as Dino came up with a surprised corner "Lee Dino's TMI News". At the surprise of the other members, he took the anchor seat from JeongHan and started to reveal SEVENTEEN's real chat room situation. Fans were curious so he prepared this corner especially for them.

Dino explained that all the members have different styles in the chat room. He talked about each style while sharing screenshots of their actual chat room.

Here are the five types mentioned and their members according to Dino:

• Cute type: WooZi, DK
• Emotional talker: S.Coups, Hoshi, The8
• Solitary photo studio: Joshua, SeungKwan
• Heavy talker: MinGyu, Dino
• Silence type [short answers or emoticons]: JeongHan, Jun, WonWoo, Vernon. But, JeongHan did not agree with his 'type'.

Fans were amused by MinGyu's typos in the chat screenshots. Instead of writing Hwaiting he wrote Rwaiting (회이팅 > 롸이팅) and for mista boo, misti boo (미스타부 > 미스티부).

That was the end of the corner.

Stages

Next, they performed three songs with their units.

The Vocal Team [JeongHan, Joshua, WooZi, DK, and SeungKwan] performed to 'Second Life'. While all sitting in individual pastel-colored rooms, they sang the soft and sweet song. At the end of the performance, they appeared on stage going out of their rooms standing on stairs props.

The Performance Team [Jun, Hoshi, The8, and Dino] performed '247'. It was a romantic track with a captivating group and solo choreography.

The HipHop Team [S.Coups, WonWoo, MinGyu, and Vernon] performed to powerful upbeat rap track 'Back it up' in a mirrored room with red light and lasers.

"Old" SVT VCR

Next was a hilarious pre-recorded "GOING SEVENTEEN" VCR. It was a role play where members were 50 years older than now. They were meeting to prepare for "CARAT LAND" and to celebrate their 55th anniversary. Members were meeting for the first time in a long time.

They all had special makeup, fashion, and hair. Talking like grandpas, they were teasing each other and brought much fun to the viewers.

Each member updated on their 'current' life. For example, SeungKwan was a YouTuber with 3000 followers using the 17G.

"CARAN GAYO" Unit Reverse Stages

Next was the "CARAN GAYO" (like the music show "Inkigayo"). WonWoo and MinGyu were the MCs and they introduced the next stage from the "chest like pacific ocean team".

The HipHop Team [S.Coups, WonWoo, MinGyu, and Vernon] performed on 'Hug'. It was a ballad song but in the end, it changed completely to a rock and roll song with wild vibes.

At "CARAN GAYO", Hoshi and The8 were the new MCs. They recommended touching songs to sing with CARAT. The8 chose 'Campfire' because it is perfect for fall to sing with fans. Hoshi chose 'Smile Flower' to sing at CARAT LAND.

Next, they announced the next song from the ORAP Team and Octopus Team.

The Performance Team [Jun, Hoshi, The8, and Dino] performed the hiphop song 'What's good'.

The Vocal Team [JeongHan, Joshua, WooZi, DK, and SeungKwan] did 'MOONWALKER' wearing angelic white suits with shinning accessories. On the back, they had a blue universe background perfect for a ballad with sweet vocals.

This song too had a twist. It changed to an upbeat song and members started to dance while SeungKwan disappeared ... to come back wearing an octopus costume. He looked cute. "Mooneo" in Korean means octopus so It was a wordplay with their song "'Moon' Walker".

The fours MCs closed the "CARAN GAYO".

Second Corner: "2020 SVT Championships"

The next corner was “2020 SEVENTEEN championships”, it is like "ISAC".

Jun, DK, and Joshua opened the session introducing the players: the fastest S.Coups, the dirtiest JeongHan (he likes to cheat in games), the most endurance Joshua, the confident Jun, the energizer Hoshi, the fast and sloth WonWoo, the ace WooZi, the artistic The8, the physical MinGyu, the lucky DK, the all-round player SeungKwan, the chill Vernon, and the full of passion Dino.

All the members then appeared on stage wearing pink and white outfits. SeungKwan was the MC for this corner and the members were divided into the following teams:

• S.Coups, Hoshi, Joshua, Vernon
• JeongHan, DK, Jun, WonWoo
• The8, Dino, WooZi, MinGyu

They played 3 games and the losers received a penalty chosen by CARAT directly.

Members first did Tuho and used tricks to spice the game. The second game was Jegichagi along with quizzes on guessing lyrics and melody of songs.

The last game was foot volleyball (Jokgu) but with special rules. They played it in the standing area (not the stage) using their hands with special paw-printed rackets.

In the end, The8, Dino, WooZi, and MinGyu lost and chose one penalty from the live comments. They did a morning call while doing catwalks.

Ending Ment & Final Stages & Encore

It was already the time for the ending talks before the final and encore stages.

They performed to 'Left & Right' and the lightsticks in the seating area were showed. It was written "SVT" prettily in the dark.

Next, a VCR for the song 'Lucky' was played to warm up fans. Before the fan meeting, members asked them to prepare a special fan chant and dance for the song.

Wearing the color of the fandom with the "CARAT LAND" outfits, members sang 'Lucky' with videos of fans in the back doing the dance and fan chants.

The members said goodbye to fans with sweet talks. They hope that for the next "CARAT LAND" they will see fans directly and that CARAT stays healthy.

The last song was the energetic and cute song 'Snap Shoot'. Members jumped for this stage. The same song was on repeat and members could not leave the stage. Fans could only love getting more times with them.

Final Thoughts

This fan meeting was funny and full of surprises. It was filled with bright energy like a fan meeting should be. The twists were good too. I can't count the amount of time I laughed.

The members had prepared a lot for a whole 4 hours of content with stages, games, talks, role play, and more. During the whole time, members kept the tension high with very different corners.

The stages were beautiful too with special attention paid on the outfits and the sets. They have prepared special events for fans too with the lightsticks in the audience and videos for 'Lucky'. It was touching.

Pledis also well planned for an international audience with multi-languages subtitles. Members also talked in English, Chinese, and Japanese which is always nice.

We can't wait for the next "SEVENTEEN In CARAT LAND"!
