FNC Entertainment is predominately known for their pop-rock bands CNBLUE and FTISLAND, back in 2016, and after the massive success of their girl group AOA, they established SF9.

Since their debut, the nine members, InSeong, YoungBin, JaeYoon, DaWon, Zuho, RoWoon, TaeYang, HwiYoung, Chani and their team have worked nonstop trying to conquer a top spot in the very competitive market of K-Pop boy bands. In less than three years, they released five mini albums with a wide variety of sounds from dance to Latin and synth-pop without compromising on the quality of the songs. Their title tracks have been both critically acclaimed and beloved by many K-Pop fans.

While their popularity is steadily growing internationally, SF9 embarked on a 10-stop world tour (U.S. and Europe). On May 12, I (Kpopmap's photographer) had the chance to attend the last stop of their “Unlimited” tour. This show signified the end of a very successful tour that brought artists and fans closer.

Even before entering the venue, the fans had the chance to see RoWoon, InSeong, and JaeYoon who kindly welcomed the lined-up crowd. My initial observation was that all of them looked very charismatic ... and tall. Towering over their security, the guys felt very relaxed and grateful they could meet people who love them and their music. With first impressions won, it was time to get into the venue. I must applaud MyMusicTaste, the organisers, for running a smooth operation.

In the midst of loud cheers, the nine members entered the stage, and the show commenced with the song “Unlimited”. The set list of the night was populated mainly with tracks from their latest two mini albums “Sensuous” and “Narcissus”. Despite an energy lacking and shaky beginning the show picked up after a few songs. Dynamic and elegant the band unraveled, through their dancing and powerful vocals, their charisma on stage.

SF9 showcased their personalities and individual talents during their solo and duet performances. With a single spotlight shining on him, DaWon was first, impressing with his vocals, singing Charlie Puth’s 'See You Again'. Mid-song YoungBin and Zuho join to perform the rap, rhyming in perfect English. TaeYang and JaeYoon delivered an emotional stage covering Justin Bieber’s 'Nothing Like Us'. The vocal highlight of the night was InSeong’s cover of Bruno Mars’ 'Vercase on the floor' that received the loud cheers from the crowd. YoungBin made his appearance once again, coupled with HwiYoung, in the electrifying 'Zeroff'.

The members looked comfortable on stage and especially during the second part of the song would interact with the fans nonstop, waving, sending love, taking selfies . In one of these interactions with the audience InSeong reminisced the time he was living in London; he confessed that his residence was not far from the venue, he even remembered the supermarket chain Tesco fondly as the place that he bought cookies from.

The enthusiasm really picked up after the high-energy 80’s mashup of the songs 'Just on my way' and '4 Step' which was one of the surprises of the night.

The guys looked tired at parts, after all, they have been on the road for almost a month. However, they genuinely admitted that touring has been a dream of theirs and that the fans are the reason they were able to make their dream a reality.

With promises to visit again, the show came to an end after the second performance of Enough, this time in English, the upbeat 'Let’s hang out' and ultimately 'The beat goes on'.

A memorable night for UK FANTASY came to an end but the best news of the night was delivered between performances, SF9 are working on new material, and we can’t wait to see what they will release next.
