Exclusive Review : Z-Boys and Z-Girls Aims To Inspire Younger Generation Of K-Pop Lovers as ONE ASIA Idol
As you may already know, K-Pop in nowadays has a substantial amount of influence to many. Just because it’s called a “K-Pop”, we already know that it does not limit to the Korean people but rather contains influences towards people around the world.
Today, I would like to talk about a group, a challenger, even a pioneer in a sense that has gathered from all around the world to endeavor with a common dream.
The company called, “Zenith Media Contents” launched a project called ‘Z-Pop Dream Project’. A project to gather international trainees, with the goal to establish a cultural trend that will eventually turn into a bridge of global cultural exchange, connecting Asia into one.
After a numerous and intense auditioning from 7 Asian countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, India, Taiwan, and Japan, two groups were formed called the Z-Boys, and the Z-Girls, and made an impressive debut on February 2019.
5 months since their debut, the group have released a new album, “Singing for You” and held a showcase with two groups.
The album, “Singing For You” consists of 3 tracks including “Holla Holla”(Z-Boys), “Streets of Gold”(Z-Girls) and “Fire Flame”(sub-unit from Z-Girls).
The first stage was opened by Z-Boys with “Holla Holla”. The song is a Hip Hop based song containing a message that they want to break the normal way of becoming successful but rather find their own way.
As for the performance, what you want to look into is their well-synched choreography (aka. Kal-Gun-Mu). When looking at them perform, you can tell how they have timed even the last tip of their fingers for this choreography.
Moving forward, the second stage was Z-Girls’, “Streets of Gold” and their sound was different from the start compared to their twin brother group.
They had more of a poppy, electronic-based song to perform that leads with a strong synth sound. The song depicts a girl, wanting to find true first love.
As both of the group’s performance ended, the Executive Producer, the man behind this project appeared on stage and shared his and the company’s vision of this project.
Kang Jun, the Executive Producer, commented that the reason why he started this project was to give dreams and inspiration to the younger generation of K-Pop lovers all around the world and that he plans on expanding his project in the future by giving a chance for other talented K-Pop lovers through upcoming auditions (via app called Glitch).
He also added that to promote the project, there will be bigger scaled concerts in other countries called “Z-POP DREAM LIVE” and added that the concert will have Z-Stars plus the local artist in order to induce cultural exchange.
In the end, the Leader of Z-Girls, Carlyn gave an impressive speech saying, “our goal is to become a “ONE ASIA” idol and become an example to the world that people from different countries with one goal can happen.”
All the best for Z-Stars on their upcoming journey.
