It has been a while since some of the EXO members have decided to stop receiving presents from fans anymore but it is still an ongoing topic among fans. The members include Lay, Chen, D.O., XiuMin and SeHun.
Lay was the very first member who had uploaded a personal letter to his fans back in 2013, explaining the decision behind his decision.
Through his long letter he talked about how thankful he was whenever he saw fans put in effort to send him presents. However that was also the reason why he had decided to stop receiving gifts. Lay understood how hard it was to earn money especially since those fans were of similar age as him and thus, using their money from their daily living expenses caused him to feel bad about it. He hoped that fans would instead make use of the money to help others in need. He also revealed that he did not want to appear bias by not using all the gifts which he had received.
Moving on to Chen, he wrote a letter for his fans in 2016.
Chen also mentioned how he had been receiving presents from his fans for a long time and was always thankful for them. Yet, as time went by, he began to feel sorry every time he received them. He apologized to fans, saying how he might have disappointed some fans by making such decision. Despite that, he had also mentioned about how he hopes to receive the love they have for him through other forms of support.
He signed off by asking his fans to be a good fan and tell them to not feel sad.
D.O. is the third member to explain why he had decided to stop receiving gifts from fans.
In his letter, he talked about how he was unable to use all the presents given to him. As such, he would feel sorry especially to those fans who had put in so much effort. He preferred to only receive presents and gifts which are from their hearts. To carry on, he also thanked all the fans and promised to become an even better singer.
XiuMin is the fourth member who have decided to stop receiving presents from fans.
He explained that as compared to materialistic gifts, he prefers to receive just the feelings and love from the hearts of fans. Similar to the previous members, he apologized for being selfish and also mentioned about wanting to receive those more than actual materialistic gifts.
Finally, SeHun also spoke out on the reasons for not accepting gifts anymore.
Like other members, he believed that it would be better if the love they have for him could be shared with other people around the world such as those who need it more than him. He is always grateful and thankful for his fans for their never ending care and concern. As such, all he wishes to receive from his fans is the happiness from those who are in need.
Judging from how sincere the members were, fans of EXO were extremely touched by them. They love how thoughtful the members were for their fans and believed that they have nothing to apologize to them. Some promised to make use of the money in a better and more helpful way by contributing back to the society.
Listening to the words of their idols, fans of Lay donated under his name for the construction of a well and public bathroom in a village in Cambodia. The project completed successfully and improved the lifestyle of the villagers. D.O.'s fans had also donated to the building of an elementary school in Laos.
In addition to that, fans had also helped out the 'Coal Briquettes for Neighbors' in Korea by providing those with coal briquettes to keep them warm during the cold water. There are so many more good deeds which the fans had done and the list could just go on and on.
With mutual understanding and love from both EXO and their fans, it is no wonder that the bond between them is so strong.
