Former Stellar Member GaYoung Talks About Being Pressured In To 19+ Concept
If you’re a K-Pop fan, chances are, you might have heard of girl group Stellar. Though now disbanded, the girl group attracted a lot of attention during their days of activities. But unfortunately, most of the publicity that they received was somewhat negative as their concept has been determined as much too sexually explicit.
South Korean news agency Insight recently had an interview former group member GaYoung, who talked about various things including being pressured in to wearing skimpy outfits by her management.
“Our start was a lot different from what we ended up becoming. Our concept was closer to cute than sexy. And we received a bit of attention since we were a girl group produced by ShinHwa member Eric.” After struggling for three or four years, Stellar left Eric’s agency.
One scene, involving milk being spilt down a member’s neck, caused the member to have a traumatic experience. GaYoung explained that the member was unable to drink milk after that day due to the trauma. The MV directors had apparently edited the footage in a way that was very sexually suggestive in nature.
She also talked about how producers would threaten them with contracts when they refused to put on very revealing clothing.
GaYoung also gave advice to the youngsters who dream of being K-Pop idols by saying
“If you’re doing it because you’re curious or because the idol life may appear to be glamorous, I highly recommend that you don’t pursue it as a career. If being an idol really is your dream, work hard at it. Even if you work hard and you don’t get the results you want, don’t think of it as a failure, but rather something to reflect on because it just simply may not be the best career option for you.”
