not to start drama but why are we glorifying mino’s dreads when that’s blatant cultural appropriation and perhaps disrespectful to those who culturally wear dreads….

So you must be against any Asian wearing suits, since that would be cultural appropriation of White European/ American culture. And you must be against all k-pop in general since it includes a lot of hip hop, which isn’t native to Korean culture and is rooted in Black American culture. By your definition, that is cultural appropriation. this comment displays an incredible amount of insensitivity and ignorance. you could be told this in a five minute google search, but i’ll tell you instead. cultural appropriation is despicable because of the inherent power imbalance. cultural appropriation is DEFINED by a dominant culture stealing culture from a minority. it hurts the culture of the minority because it steals a part of them and erases them in a sense, making what was once their tradition a common thing until their culture becomes a show or a joke rather than an integral part of society. i’m bad at explaining things, but… Read more »

They aren’t dreads. They are braids and many cultures have them, including Asian cultures. But beyond that, this whole cultural appropriation thing is ridiculous. Why can only one race, race, or culture lay claim to things? It’s divisive. In a world where inclusion is preached and embraced, the cultural appropriation movement is ridiculous.
