GWSN is a 7-member girl group that is known for their no-skip discography. Members SeoRyoung, Miya, SeoKyoung, Anne, MinJu, Soso, and LeNa have been impressing Groo (their fandom) with their captivating charm and performance power. 

Kpopmap had the honor of exclusively interviewing the girl group.

Kpopmap asked Groo to gather questions that they wanted to ask the members. The girls spoke about concepts they want to try in the future, their favorite GWSN performances/songs, artists who inspire them, and more. Read all about it below.

Lena and SeoRyoung, what was it like to write lyrics for “The Other Side of the Moon”? Do you want to keep writing lyrics for GWSN?

 

I've had a lot of interest in writing lyrics and composing since before but being able to participate in writing lyrics through this album made me very happy. I think doing promotional activities while singing a song that I participated in producing broadened my perspective as an artist. Especially when it comes to expressing the song. If I get the opportunity to write lyrics and compose, I want to continue studying and challenging myself.

If we get the chance then I want to do it again.

We think of the concept for each album. We want to try a lot of different concepts.

Do you have any memorable/funny/cute moments or memories from this era?

When we performed ‘I Can’t Breathe’.

I had a great time when all the members were listening to carols and pretending to be a virtual band.

When we did the ‘Like It Hot’ stage for the first time on MCountdown and the moments when I filmed for my first movie.

What is the hardest part of being an idol? How do you cope with hard times?

I worried a lot because Korean pronunciation is difficult for me. The members and managers helped me a lot.
Miya
Not being able to spend time with my family is the hardest. I cope and get healed by spending time alone.
SeoKyoung
Not making things obvious. I want to have a good influence on people who are watching or listening to me so, even if I’m having a hard time or sick, I don’t want to show them that side of me.
I listen to music, write in my diary, or do things that can change my mood!
During those times, the fans help a lot! Just reading the letters from fans in the fan café makes me feel that I have someone on my side who is waiting for me, which is a great comfort!SeoRyoung
I think right now is the hardest things have been so far. Due to COVID-19, even if we’re on stage it’s hard to meet fans and it’s upsetting that we can only meet fans online or through letters. We want to give fans our energy in person and receive Groos energy too. I hope a day when the situation is better comes soon. I’m holding on by watching videos from our performances back in the day and recalling the memories we made together with Groo.

I don’t think anything has been particularly difficult about being an idol. If there’s something difficult, I think I just spend time alone.

An uncertain future? I don’t think that it applies just to idols, but anyone who is living in this world is the same. Isn’t the future fun and beautiful because it is unknown?

Please tell us the first impressions you had of each other vs. the impressions you have now.

At first, because we couldn’t speak to each other, I didn’t know but now everyone is kind.

On Anne’s audition day, the company staff were secretly watching her in the next room. The dance song was ‘Bang Bang’ by Jessie J, which I had performed on “Produce 101” so I was really surprised. I really wanted her to pass the audition so that we could practice it together later. Now she’s my one and only precious unique but charming cute younger sister.

First impression… I don’t remember well now because we’ve been together for so long. Haha. I think I was always nervous to meet anyone when I was a trainee!

I don’t really remember.

I don’t remember everything but the member who I remember the most is SeoRyoung. We were attending the same school but the vocal club that SeoRyoung belonged to sang a song at lunchtime. That’s the first time I saw her. She was cute.

I started liking K-Pop, so I joined the group as a friend’s recommendation. We did a lot of dance covers then.

I want to learn jazz or R&B properly.
