Henry Lau has decided not to renew his contract with SM Entertainment and has parted ways with his longtime home agency.
The K-Pop idol was signed under SM Entertainment’s sub-label ‘Label SJ’ for almost ten years. He now intends to form his own agency in order to continue his activities as an idol. He first joined SM Entertainment back in 2006 after passing auditions. He officially debuted as a member of Super Junior M in 2008 and began his solo career in 2013.
So far, he himself will be the only one to sign under his agency and might even establish another independent agency in China as well. His Taiwanese roots also allow him to directly appeal to K-Pop fans based in countries where Chinese is the primary language of use.
The name of his self-formed agency has not yet been confirmed.
