Can you believe that the highly anticipated Mnet “Produce X 101” has already begun? Starting from May 3, Mnet will be airing a new episode every Friday, 11 pm KST through various online platforms.

Kpopmap thought that it would be interesting to go over some of the highlights of the episode to help viewers refresh their memory before the new episode.

#1 The Fight For Number 1 Seat

One of the main focus of the show would have to be the number one seat that is right at the top of the pyramid setting.

Needless to say, the competition for that particular seat began rather early between Yuehua Entertainment’s Hwang GeumRyul and Fantagio Entertainment’s Han KiChan.

Eventually, the seat was taken up by AAP.Y’s Lee MiDam, challenged by Stone Music’s Kim SungHyun and finally losing it to former JYP Entertainment’s Yoon SeoBin.

With Yoon SeoBin being the last to enter the studio and taking over the number one seat, he received applause and cheers from the rest of the trainees.

However, Yoon SeoBin had left the show as he was caught up in a bullying controversy, suggesting that the jinx of the number one seat might be true.

#2 DSP Media VS Source Music

One of the things many trainees fear is performing the same song as trainees from other entertainment companies. They dislike for the fact that they would be compared by both the mentors as well as trainees present.

It looks like ‘Ko Ko Bop’ from EXO  is a rather popular song as it was performed by DSP Media’s and Source Music’s trainees.

Even the mentors were surprised that both groups had performed the same song but gave better evaluation results to those from DSP Media.

Son DongPyo from DSP Media also did not miss the opportunity to impress the mentors when he was asked to dance to a random song turned on for him.

#3 The First ‘A’ by OUI Entertainment’s Kim YoHan

Some might not have heard of this entertainment company but recently has been gaining the attention of many netizens thanks to their understanding of fans’ taste.

Kim YoHan from OUI Entertainment began by sharing that he has been doing taekwondo since a young age but had decided to give up because of his dream to become an idol.

He impressed the mentors as well as the trainees when he skid through the stage with a pair of Heelys while singing.

In addition to his witty performance, it seemed like many were also amazed by his gorgeous visuals.

Eventually, the mentors decided to give him ‘A’ after seeing his potential in becoming an idol, causing many to be in shock.

#4 The trainee who was a trainee before SoYou

SidusHQ’s Park SeonHo might be familiar to you as he has been active as an actor, taking up several roles in K-Dramas. Little did we know that he had been training under Starship Entertainment for 6 six years but eventually left as he failed to debut twice (BOYFRIEND and MONSTA X ).

SoYou shared that Park SeonHo had actually entered the company earlier than her and found her heart wrenched as she saw him coming up to audition in front of her.

Perhaps it was due to the melody and lyrics of the song which he had sang, viewers found SoYou tearing up and holding back her tears. In addition, another dance trainer, Kwon JaeSeung, who had known Park SeonHo for quite some time had actually shed some tears too for the same reason as SoYou.

Many praised him for his smooth and lovely voice and felt that he was very suitable in becoming a ballad singer. Eventually, Park SeonHo was given ‘B’ which he was very thankful for!

#5 The trainee who will save his company, MBK Entertainment

Do you recognize trainee Nam DoHyun who had previously appeared on MBC “Under Nineteen”? It looks like he is fighting for another chance to debut as an idol on this season as well.

At a mere age of 16 (Korea age), he had impressed the mentors with his freestyle rap, dancing skills and the short amount of training period. In addition, Nam DoHyun was also praised for his professionalism when his in-ear fell out accidentally when he was performing.

Needless to say, he was given ‘A’.

Of course, there are a lot of talented trainees that were not mentioned and we believe the best would be for you to judge them yourself.

I wasn’t going to watch as i`m kinda more interested in girl groups but i found myself having a look anyway …2hrs 30mins later i was still watching and loving it..
Kim YoHan was an interesting pick,he got an A grade not because he was great(he WAS good) but because of his potential, the trainers did say he was a little lacking but his presence attitude and visuals were A+ with only a short time of training …if he impeoves i think he`s a definite top 11 pick….
