International Fans Start Petition, Requesting Korean Govt To Re-Investigate Assault Victim Kim SangGyo
After the announcement of SeungRi that he would be retiring from the entertainment industry, it came to attention of Korean media outlet, YTN, that international fans are requesting the Korean government to re-investigate ‘Burning Sun’ assault victim Kim SangGyo through an online petition.
To recap on what had happened, Kim SangGyo claimed that he was assaulted by security guards in ‘Burning Sun’ club when he was actually trying to prevent women from being sexually assaulted. However, there were also claims that he might not be the actual victim in the situation. Not long ago, it was revealed that he was indeed innocent as footages of CCTV were released.
Moving on, international fans were seen leaving supportive comments on SeungRi’s Instagram.
Some fans also took the initiative of starting an online petition, requesting the Korean government to re-start the investigation of Kim SangGyo.
They would require 200,000 signatures in order for the government to proceed with the re-investigation. Currently as of Mar. 12, 5 pm KST, a total of 36,808 signatures were collected.
