With Brian’s beautiful intro song, Eric opened his second episode of K-pop Daebak w/ Eric Nam!(YAY not yet canceled!) He thanked four of his podcast listeners including three of them in the studio and one random person(presumably his brother Eddie). But for real though, there were thousands of people who listened to the first episode.
With Eric Nam sharing his story of meeting with Hawkeye and Captain Marvel from the Avengers(Eric hosted a fan meeting for the movie promotion), here is the recap of K-Pop Daebak w/ Eric Nam episode 2!
First up is BOL4 with their latest EP, “Puberty Book”(Released Apr. 02). Eric shared his curiosity over their group naming. BOL4 in Korea is called 볼빨간 사춘기(bol-bbalgan-sachungi) which in English translates, “red cheek puberty”. The naming itself is rather unique and hard to understand and mentioned that he would like to ask if he gets to meet them.
BOL4 is known for having a special vocal tone in Korea and they had a great track of records in the music charts whenever new music is released from them.
Group’s title track, “나만, 봄(Bom)” is a love song released during spring and Eric tells the listeners how in Korea, there are numerous “love-themed” songs released that connects to the spring season. Eric also had previously released a song called, “Spring Love” which he collaborated with Wendy and another one called “You, Who?” which he worked with Jeon Somi.
Unfortunately, Eric said he missed a chance to collaborate with BOL4 due to miscommunication and in the hopes that they would get this message, Eric proposed a collaboration if they get a chance! So I guess we might see an exciting collaboration between those two in the future!
BLACKPINK released, “KILL THIS LOVE”(Released Apr. 05) and like always, became an enormous hit all over the globe. Half of the song is composed of English lyrics and Eric mentioned about Blackpink’s great movement into the western music pop world. He also mentioned Blackpink being the first K-Pop group ever to perform in Coachella.
He also emphasized the greatness of them as they have only released 9 songs and have already dominated the K-Pop scene both domestically and internationally.
Eric mentioned how Rosé with “a-thing-amajigra on top of the e”(aka, é) has a crazy tone that Eric loves and she does a great job when it comes to bending notes, which is somewhat of a YG thing but says that she made it her own.
Next up is BTS ’ “Boy with love feat. Halsey”(Released Apr. 12th)! This album was full of record-breaking moments for BTS and Eric briefly goes over some of crazy and unbelievable BTS moments that occurred even before their comeback.
Covering BTS’ promotion schedule in the states including SNL comeback showcase and performing at the Billboard Music Awards, He moves on to commencing an MV first “reaction podcast” since he hasn’t watched the full music video of ‘Boy with love’ and wanted to share that moment via the podcast.
Of course, due to copyrights, you cannot hear the music and the podcast kindly tells you that with a funky robotic voice but you get to hear his reaction while the video is playing(It’s hilarious).
With him going over some of the details on the making of the BTS’ latest album, he drops a major teaser! He also shared an episode how a song that he previously received from a composer ended up in BTS’ album!(You must listen to the episode!).
Go ahead and listen to the 2nd episode of K-Pop Daebak w/ Eric Nam as there are so many details and fun moments that I haven’t covered here since those can only be delivered thru and audio format!(Or more like thru Eric’s voice). So check the link below and share with us what your favorite moment was in this episode!
I’ll see you guys on the next episode recap of K-Pop Daebak Show w/ Eric Nam in Kpopmap!
