After disputes including the one about whether he would be able to have complete control of his Instagram account under his own name, former Wanna One member Kang Daniel is at odds with his current agency, LM Entertainment.
Kang Daniel's legal representative released an official statement on March 5th, stating:
"We are currently in the process of negotiating with LM Entertainment about certain legal issues. We will do our best to resolve matters smoothly in order to protect Kang Daniel's promotions from any negative publicity."
According to reports from South Korean news agencies, there are speculations that Kang Daniel is considering terminating his contract with LM Entertainment if negotiations are not able to bring about certain changes to the terms of his current contract.
Considering that LM Entertainment is a subsidiary of MMO, which is also a subsidiary of CJ E&M, Kang Daniel's current situation may be a lot more complex than what meets the eye. Ultimately being under CJ E&M will definitely give Kang Daniel an upper hand while also being able to utilize his already massive popularity. But the terms of contract may just as well be tricky to sort out as agencies with greater influence tend to have a bigger share in profits and control over an artist.
