Whenever the boys of EXO make a comeback, you can always rely on them to stunt some serious looks. And this time around, BaekHyun‘s ‘all red everything’ beauty look has turned heads with its high drama impact.
BaekHyun’s look is reminiscent of certain trends going on in the beauty world these days – particularly the trend of burgundy smokey eyes seen on the runways of Kenzo, Chanel, and Anna Sui.
For Korean Beauty Box, we’re going to teach you how to recreate BaekHyun’s on-trend look with our favorite Korean drug store cosmetics. The application itself is so simple that you don’t need to be a professional make-up artist to master the look. The secret to this one is just plenty of high pigments. Shall we begin?
First up, let’s take a look at BaekHyun’s cherry red chunk highlights. To get that similar punch of color, it would be best to work on pre-bleached hair. However, when applying your hair color, feel free to apply it all over your hair, as the rest of the untreated hair will pick up a subtle red tone that will compliment the highlights quite nicely. When applying the color dye, let it sit on your hair for the maximum suggested time to allow for more vibrant results.
The focus of BaekHyun’s look is definitely the eyes, especially the silver accents, pale green circle lens, and matching red eyebrows. Create a smokey eye using three different red and burgundy shades, starting with the darkest color along the upper lash line. Use the lightest color to fill the lid and the medium color in both the crease of the eye and the lower waterline, blending it out along the edges of the eye to create a subtle smokey look. Line the eye with a dark wine liner.
For the eyebrows, we recommend using an eyebrow base as opposed to a pre-tinted eyebrow masacara. Pony Effect’s Contoured Brow Color in Customizing, for example, will create a neutral eyebrow color that you can apply a red shadow of your choice over to fine-tune your result shade. Finish the look off by adding the silver stud stickers along the brow and by the tear duct.
To get BaekHyun’s natural-looking green eyes, it is probably best to work with a circle lens that either fades into a darker green or maintains a solid green throughout. Anything with too dark of an outer ring will look too doll-like or deliberate. We recommend Magic Color’s Geo Olive Wing, Eyecandy’s Glossy Green, or Western Eyes’ Nobluk Ring Green, which you can check out below.
Since the look has such a strong eye, the rest of the face is going to stay relatively neutral. All you’re going to want to do is apply a balm with just enough pink hue to the lips and contour your cheeks, nose, and jawline with a contour palette or bronzer to frame the final look. If you’re wanting to go full-on BaekHyun, you can even add one of these Tattly garden-inspired temporary tattoos on your neck. They’re cute and scented!
And there you have it – all you need to rock BaekHyun’s hot-hot-hot red smokey eye look!
