Korean Fashion Finds: The Fashion Behind SunMi’s “Gashina”
While the disbandment of Wonder Girls definitely let us down, we’ll admit that we’re totally in love with SunMi‘s solo work – especially her new song, “Gashina”!
One of the ultimate babes of K-Pop, you can always rely on SunMi to give us some serious fashion and beauty inspo with every new music video she comes out with, and the ultra-vibrant, feminine-with-an-attitude concept of her latest comeback is no different. She’s the queen of looks!
For this week’s Korean Fashion Finds, we’re going behind some of our favorite designer items from “Gashina.” Be warned – it’s going to be a droolfest!

First up, we’re going to check out items SunMi wore from US streetwear brand UNIF‘s collaboration with Japanese supermodel Kiko Mizuhara.
In a promotional still from the music video, you can get a closer look at the shirt, which is made from a ribbed, sweater material. The pastel stripe pattern and the embroidered butterfly design give a nod to the babydoll style of the mid-to-late 90s, and we love the way her bright pink blush and sky blue shadow add even more playfulness to the full look.
The t-shirt is actually a part of Japanese supermodel Kiko Mizuhara’s collaboration collection with streetwear brand UNIF. The Kiko X UNIF Frost Top might be currently sold out through the brand, but internet savvy fashionistas can easily find the top through various third party online stores.
However, one item that’s still available through the line is the ultra-slinky Kiko x UNIF Butterfly Mini Dress, which SunMi literally rolls around in during another scene of the music video.
The style gives the LBD a very retro upgrade with adorable butterfly detail on the straps. Get it while it’s haute!
Next up, we have SunMi’s all-red look centered around a beautiful sailor-inspired dress, designed by Korean fashion label The Centaur.
Similar to SunMi’s “Full Moon” music video, the outfit is very romantic, lacy, and full of monochromatic drama. It’s a little bit flamenco, a little bit storybook, and a whole lot of glamour, making it one of our favorite looks from the video.
The dress is called The Quite Lady Dress and is one of the highlight items of their S/S 2017 collection. Double-breasted and embroidered with ranchero-style roses, it was one of Seoul Fashion Week’s most coveted items, seen on many Korean celebrities, include the equally fashionable Krystal of f(x).
For our last look, we’re going to look at SunMi’s simple yet unconventional skirt look, finished off with a Swarovski crystal necklace and a pleated skirt from Jeremy Scott.
In a still from the music video, we get a closer look at the entire outfit. To balance out the loud design of the skirt, SunMi wears a simple black tank and silver jewelry. To emphasize the block color look (and to add an element of fun), she wears deep red lipstick in a similar shade to what the face on her skirt is wearing.
To those of you familiar with American designer Jeremy Scott, it should be no surprise that the skirt was one of his designs. The Jeremy Scott Face Print Pleated Skirt reminds us very much of the loud styles he put 2NE1 in for their “New Evolution World Tour,” where he served as the girls’ costume designer.
We are also huge fans of SunMi’s ultra-glam statement necklace, Swarovski’s Fit Crystal Choker, which was paired with a few other silver chokers of similar designs to create a mixed media texture to the look.
