If you’re like us and in love with vintage-meets-modern music video looks, this is definitely the article for you. This time around, we’ve decided to dedicate an entire fashion feature to the leader of girl group MAMAMOO – the diva darling Solar!
With a killer voice and plenty of sass to match, Solar is not only the ultimate K-Pop girl crush, but the face of a girl group that consistently goes against the grain when it comes to their sound and style. For Korean Fashion Finds, we’ve picked out three of our favorite Solar looks that are easy enough to throw together and wear out on the town. Let’s take a closer look!
First up, we’ve got Solar’s all-denim look from “Honey Bee,” her collaboration single with EXID’s HaNi and f(x)’s Luna.

While the ‘Canadian tuxedo’ look has been a fashion don’t in the past, when paired smartly, you can still definitely hit it out of the park!
In this still from the music video, you can see the full outfit, which she accented with simple gold jewelry and a chunky white heel. The curve-hugging jeans matched with the tucked-in, blousy denim top creates a comfortable yet chic silhouette that keeps the all-denim style from appearing tacky. Her loosely tousled locks and hoop earrings also add a level of ‘cool girl’ to the outfit – showing just how well smart accenting can pull a look together.
To master this look, we suggest Imvely’s Whiskered Raw Hem Straight-Cut Jeans and Loose Denim Boyfriend Shirt. However, our favorite item from the outfit we’ve put together is StyleNanda’s Chunky Heel Square Toe Pumps, which give the outfit a very vintage-inspired twist.
Next up, we’ve got Solar’s kitchen scene look from MAMAMOO’s recent “Yes I Am” music video.

This music video is literally jam-packed with some pretty enviable looks, but perhaps the most wearable outfit from the video is Solar’s kitchen look, which elevates an otherwise ordinary skirt and t-shirt combination with a pair of fashion-forward wrap sandals.
This time around, Solar’s seeing a whole lot of red – from the sandals and mini skirt, all the way up to her pinkish hair and makeup. The blocks of primary colors are very reminiscent of 1960s-1970s pop art aesthetic. (Are we the only ones who think Solar kind of looks like she stepped out of one of those comic book-esque Roy Lichtenstein paintings?)
For this look, we had a hard time finding a perfect bell-sleeved t-shirt like Solar’s, but we are quite content with this Warning Print T-Shirt from StyleNanda. With button detail and square panel pockets channeling the mod era, ASOS’ red skirt also ups the retro vibes of the outfit.
For our last look, we’re featuring the black-and-white shift dress look Solar wore in the “Taller Than You” music video.

Whether they were donning #allblackeverything or styled up prison jumpsuits, the girls of MAMAMOO were sporting all sorts of looks in this video. But our favorite look was Solar’s black and white collared dress.
As you can tell by the music video, the outfit itself is pretty simple. However, the look is extremely high-contrast, and when presented with the other girls’ varied but similar dresses, evokes a very fashion-forward 1960s girl group vibe.
Anyone can wear a black dress, but it’s what you pair with it that really keeps a look from getting dull. In our suggested “Taller Than You”-inspired look, we are definitely digging those Chuu Just Like That Day Heels, which are oh-so-Shangri Las. We also won’t tell a soul if you decide to incorporate that volume hair pad into your look. What’s more retro-chic than a perfect little hair lift?
Those are our three favorite Solar looks. What are yours? Sound off below!
