Korean Fashion Finds: I AM NOT A HUMAN BEING F/W 2017 Collection
Urban fashion and music almost go hand in hand these days. We don’t just listen to the music of our favorite idols and musicians. We also look at what they wear and how they wear it to understand what they are trying to express.
For some time, urban streetwear in Korea has been dominated by the likes of overseas brands such as Stussy and Supreme. High-end brands such as Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Fear of God, and Balenciaga have also been brands that Koreans wore with pride and confidence on the streets. Even though it is mainly still the case and the same applies to other countries as well, for the most part, it was always a desirable scenario for any nation to have their own brand that they could look up to as one that could at least be on the same page as the mentioned brands. This is the reason why we have to give respect and credit to South Korean street fashion label ‘I AM NOT A HUMAN BEING’. Sure it may have a slight ‘Fuccboi’ aesthetic to it at first glance but what streetwear brand doesn’t these days? There’s no harm in it as long as it’s just done properly.
Even though it can’t be defined as high-end streetwear, it isn’t the opposite either. The pieces are able to be mixed and matched easily with high-end designer clothing and shoes, without looking like one piece of clothing is out of place. It has even collaborated with Playboy as well.
This year’s F /W collection maintains their original vibe but mainly utilizing designs other than plaid. Plaid has been the dominant pattern design for previous collections but for this year, the pieces seem more symmetrical and simpler.
