Idols love flashy fashion, and this year, our favorite K-Pop lady crushes have been bringing us that bling-bling through heavily sequined looks. From BoA’s floor-length sequined dress in “Camo” to JiSoo’s sequined mini skirt in “As If It’s Your Last,” our girls have been making pretty bold statements with their looks, and us fans have been absolutely loving it.
For Korean Fashion Finds, we wanted to focus on our favorite sequined K-Pop trend, the sequined jacket. A perfect blend of wild and casual, the sequined jacket trend combines more boyish jacket styles – like bombers, denim, and motorcycle jackets – with a loud and unmistakably feminine burst of color. We’ve found three equally fierce styles from Nasty Gal’s online shop that are reminiscent of some of our favorite sequin jacket looks from K-Pop videos. Let’s take a closer look!
First up, we’ve got Heize‘s solid sequin jacket from the music video for “You, Clouds, Rain.”
Heize is one of the most on-trend rappers in K-Pop right now, and by sticking to sequins in only one solid color, she makes such a normally loud piece of clothing look much more balanced and suitable for an everyday look.
In a still from the music video, we can see that Heize has paired her silver sequin raincoat with a vintage graphic t-shirt and basic silver accent jewelry. This outfit is a great one to follow for those who might need to get used to wearing such loud pieces.
If you’re just starting out wearing bolder fashion, we suggest trying out a solid jacket in silver, gold, or pastels first – like Nasty Gal’s The Show Must Go On Sequin Bomber Jacket. The basic color and cut of the design will balance out its shimmer to make it more of an accent to your outfit instead of simply taking it over.
Next up, we’ve got HyoYeon‘s patterned sequin jacket from the upcoming SNSD “Holiday Night” music video.
You can always count on SNSD’s dancing queen to be rocking some daring threads in her music videos, and this time around, she wows in a pink-and-black sequined jacket that would have already been a statement piece far before the sequins were added to it!
In a teaser image for the single, HyoYeon’s jacket is paired with equally sparkling accents – namely a black-and-silver necktie and costume earrings – while keeping the rest of her clothes a solid color to balance the outfit out.
If you’ve got it in you to go loud, go loud, baby! However, resist the urge to turn fashion terrorist by pairing your sequin patterned jacket with some more muted pieces. If you dare to go full-on HyoYeon, we recommend Nasty Gal’s Zoe Sequin Bomber Jacket.
For our last look, we’re featuring the sequined denim jacket worn by EunBin in CLC’s “Goblin” music video.
As the visual of a girl group, you’ve got to dress fresh to death, and EunBin did not disappoint in this stunning denim look. (This jacket was so fire that it got its very own intro!)
The incorporation of denim into the sequin jacket trend adds a whole lot of ‘bad girl’ to the look. In this image of EunBin pulled from the video, the singer has embraced her wild side with a thick chain choker. Her beauty points – bright red lips and nails with a smokey eye – further amp up the attitude.
For this look, we recommend going full-on rock star. Pair it with boots, a vintage band t-shirt, or some bold make-up. We unfortunately couldn’t find EunBin’s exact jacket look, but we’re absolutely in love with the wearability of Nasty Gal’s Find What You’re Sequin Denim Jacket.
