There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other.

So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias.

 

Three Egyptian fans of ENHYPEN gathered by@EnhypenEgypt1: Melly, Nada, and Menii are the next fans to answer our questions. Check out how they entered the fandom, the songs and content they advise to new fans, and much more!

Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from?

We’re 3 members of team @EnhypenEgypt1, Melly, Nada, Menii, and we’re from Egypt.

 

How and when did you enter the fandom?

I watched “I-LAND” by chance and I really like Jay and SungHoon performing ‘7th Sense’ together. I kept watching them through the show and wanted to be a part of their journey till now.

I know them since “I-LAND” because they’re so talented since then.
Nada
I knew ENHYPEN in June 2021 with a video of Jake on TikTok.

What are the reasons why you love your favorite group?

ENHYPEN feels like home for me, there are many reasons to feel this way but mainly their talent, passion, personalities, group concept, and songs.
Melly
ENHYPEN is my favorite group because they’re really hard-working boys and their work should really be appreciated, also the way they show us their humanity in a good way (through their words and charity donation that some members participate in). Also all the music and content they made really attract me to continue supporting them as much as I can.

At first, I was interested in them because of Jake and HeeSeung’s voice, but after I started getting to know them as real people and I loved them all.

Who caught your attention at first and why?

The first one who caught my attention in “I-LAND” was Jake then JungWon and the reason was simply because of their incredible voice, and besides that, their personality is really attractive.
Melly
Sunoo and Ni-Ki caught my attention during “I-LAND”. Sunoo’s angelic voice amazes me and Ni-Ki’s dance skill is really attractive.

It was Jake’s sweet voice and cute videos that caught my attention first.

Who is your bias, and why?

Both Jake and JungWon are my biases since day one and it’s because their kindness have a great impact on me personally. They impress me even though they are younger than me. I’m still learning a lot from them. They become my comfort zone.
Melly
Ni-Ki is my bias and besides his amazing talent, his funny and energetic personality really makes me feel alive.
Nada
Jake is my bias and I chose him just because he is “our little happy Aussi boy”, also he’s a stage genius, and his performance will attract you in no time.

Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans?

A title track we recommend is ‘Future Perfect ( Pass the MIC )’, and b-side tracks: ‘Go Big or Go Home’, ‘Shout Out’, and ‘Just a little bit’.

Are there any words from the members you would like to share?

“No matter how bad the situation is, if you think positively it would be more comfortable. It’s harder if you think about bad things in a bad situation” said JungWon.

“Even if it’s obvious, you just have to try it. That way things change” said Sunoo.
Nada
“ No matter how hard a time you’re having, always be kind to others. Don’t give the same hardship to others by the excuse of your own hardship” said Jay.

What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now?

When Jake at the “Manifesto World Tour” in U.S. said, “You guys (ENGENEs) are the reason I wake up everyday, you are the reason I can smile. ENGENEs without you, I’ll be nothing, you guys really my everything.”

 

Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don’t know yet about it?

Words Sunoo like to hear: “Sunoo’s existence gives me strength,” “I’m glad/happy to have Sunoo.” He said “When I hear something like that, it gives me strength and makes me work harder to prepare a performance that will make my fans happy! It cheers me up.”
Jay also said “I feel great when I hear that ENGENE are gaining strength when they watched us. We heard it a lot during fansign, right. I think I like it when they said that.”
And for JungWon it’s “You perform so well,” and “You’re handsome/cool.”
HeeSeung said “I like to hear that people are here for me” and “You can do it”.
Ni-Ki would like to hear that he’s doing good job and that he’s cool.
Sunghoon said “Sometimes fans react like “They’re crazy”. It’s nice to hear words like “Wow, this performance is a little crazy” or “crazy visual”.”
And lastly Jake said he want to hear those words like “Don’t get stressed Jake, you’re doing well right now.”

If you have a chance to cook for the group, what will you cook for them?

Of course, our traditional Egyptian food (Koshary or Hawawshi), and we think Sunoo would like to drink Egyptian mint tea.

 

If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do?

It would be fun to attend a concert with ENHYPEN members.

What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias?

The best moment in 2022 with ENHYPEN is when they start singing “Shout out” with ENGENEs in their world tour.

What is your favourite way of communicating with your bias?

ENHYPEN members communicate mostly on Weverse app, through comments and live. We love the way each member do several stuff with us for example:
Sunoo like to share his emotional pictures.
JungWon always cheer us up mostly everyday and sharing bed selca with us.
Jake, HeeSeung and SungHoon with other members too asking ENGENE for menu recommendations.
Jay comes to ENGENEs every Monday to cheer for us.
Ni-Ki comes to play with ENGENEs sharing his selcas with us.

 

What do you have in common with your favourite idol?

Here some common things between our team members and ENHYPEN members:
– Taking sky pics like Sunoo
– Pet owners
– We have the desire to do a lot of charitable work like most of ENHYPEN members.

 

If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be?

The first line is “The journey of 7 shining starts begins.”
The last line is ” This is how the 7 different boys show the world how GenZ connect, discover and grow.”

Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop?

Of course a lot of friends from different places around our country and globally too. Specially a lot of ENGENE friends, we started hanging out since 2020 in several events.

 

What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life?

All of ENHYPEN members make me happy and better in a different way but what is common with them all is their words to us always make me heal, also they’re the reason why I knew many people (ENGENE friends) and encouraged me to do things I really couldn’t do before because of my social anxiety but the power of “I’ll do it for my boys” is incredible. They also debut during the pandemic and they literally make 2020 a better year for me and many ENGENEs too. I will always be thankful for them because they’re here for us through ups & downs.

They make me smile daily and made me experience new challenges since I know them and they give me the chance to hang out with many people that help me forget the feeling of loneliness.
Nada
For me, JungWon always inspires me because we have the same age, and I’m always impressed by his skills and hard work. I hope one day I’ll be as proud of myself as I am of him.

What is your favorite side of fangirling?

There is a chance to get to know beautiful and precious people who understand my feelings for my idols and won’t judge me.

Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)?

The thing maybe non-fans of ENHYPEN misunderstood is the member’s position in the team (like main vocal, lead dancer, etc.), but the fact is the 7 members of ENHYPEN are all rounded and the most important thing is that they’re still learning things and trying to find their passion in the music industry like songwriting, producing, etc. Also the members’ friendship. We think non-fans should watch more content from ENHYPEN before assuming anything negative about the group and also to see their love and care for each other.

Menii’s message to Jake:

I love him and respect him very much and I will never stop loving him and trusting him because he is a good and precious boy who deserves it… I am grateful to him for making me feel warm in my heart through seeing his dealings with the members, Layla (Jake’s pet dog) and ENGENE. And I want to tell him to do what he wants to do without thinking twice and being afraid of people judging him because we love him as he is.

 

Menii’s message to Ni-Ki:

Ni-Ki, don’t ever forget that you deserve all the love, care, and appreciation on this planet.  Please feel free to express your feelings with us or with your friends (ENHYPEN members). During ups & downs, ENGENEs will always be by your side.”
