Kpopmap Romantic Pick: Choi WooShik Makes An Impulsive Confession Of Love To Kim DaMi In "Our Beloved Summer"

        SBS

Welcome to our sweetest Editor's Choice Kpopmap series: the Romantic Pick! In this biweekly series with articles released on Wednesdays, we pick the most heart-fluttering, impactful, and aww-worthy scene from ongoing K-Dramas and analyze it from start to end.

There are a number of romantic K-Dramas airing at the moment such as "The Red Sleeve", "Let Me Be Your Knight", "Now, We Are Breaking Up" and more.

This week, our favourite romantic pick is a scene from "Our Beloved Summer"!

        Spoiler Alert!

From the very first episode until now, "Our Beloved Summer" has shown us some incredibly sweet moments between our lead characters Choi Ung (Choi WooShik) and Kook YeonSoo (Kim DaMi), all of which are equally swoon-worthy. However, the scene we're picking today is the iconic high-school confession scene.

In episode 4 of "Our Beloved Summer", we see both Ung and YeonSoo struggling with the documentary and their own unresolved feelings. They try to be amicable but someone always ends up getting hurt. In flashbacks, we're taken through the lovely story of how they fell in love to begin with and the age-old debate ensues: who confessed first?

Ung insists that YeonSoo was setting the mood whereas YeonSoo denies it altogether. At the end of the day, both blamed their sudden spike in romantic tension on the unpredictable weather. As it turns out, Choi Ung was the one who confessed first and YeonSoo seemed to have been waiting for him to do so as they instantly confirmed their feelings for each other with a sweet kiss.

The couple's attachment style and love language are perfectly represented in this confession scene. It is only when Kook YeonSoo is concerned and caring and Choi Ung is on the receiving end of that affection that he simply blurts out his confession. It would be fair to assume therefore that the documentary of the now broken up couple as adults would help them be in a more equal relationship in the future. Needless to say, we're rooting for this couple to have the happiest ending ever, especially after we saw how the break-up affected both of them.
