Made In Korea Thursday: SM Entertainment’s SUM Cafe in Seoul
Kpopmap visited SM Entertainment’s SUM Cafe in Seoul, and we give you a complete tour of the K-Pop idol paradise.
This week, we visited the one location that holds everything you’ve ever wanted from our favorite SM Entertainment artists. Hardcore SM stans will already know that this K-Pop paradise is located right in the middle of Seoul’s hottest area, Chungdam. Planning on traveling out to Seoul soon? Listen carefully, because this is a must-see kind of place!
SM Entertainment is arguably the best K-Pop label known to date. They began the boy group trend starting from H.O.T, and now have created some of the biggest names in the industry, such as EXO, Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, Red Velvet, NCT and more!
We all know you want a little piece of the SM Town with you, and now you can!
SM Entertainment opened a brand new cafe/market that’s open to the public. Located right in Chungdam, Seoul, the big blue glass building is hard to miss! And Kpopmap went there in person to check it out for you~
Address: 52-1 Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
As soon as you enter the building, you’re welcomed into a big open space that’s clean, white and clear. From the very beginning you feel that signature SM-aura.
How can you call it the SUM Cafe (or SM Cafe) without all the decorative goods of our favorite SM artists? From the EXO heartthrobs to SM’s queen, BoA, the cafe holds all of the latest posters, photos and celebratory decorations of the SM artists.
The cafe also holds some of the most unique items that can’t be found anywhere else. There are potteries painted with unique designs of SM artists, and displays of the actual items used during SM music videos shoots.
It is a cafe-mart after all! Here, you can find all kinds of goodies that holds the designs and names of famous artists. From the latest albums, photo books and magazines all the way to your own little pouch engraved with SHINee‘s names. They’ve got it all in the cutest designs.
We couldn’t leave without trying out their actual cafe! We ordered us a cold glass of Americano and an amazing EXO cupcake. You can choose your favorite artists’ cupcake and your favorite member to decorate with. We chose EXO and our bias, ChanYeol for today!
Now that we got our stomachs satisfied, we took a stroll downstairs to the SUM Market. It’s basically a grocery store that’s been bedazzled with SM artists. Here you can find any kind of food that’s been especially made to fit the characteristics of SM groups. Have you tried EXO almonds and SNSD beer?
Just outside of the market, you can find a lobby full of small to big cut-outs of SM star characters. Have a photoshoot or sit by the bench while you read the latest SM magazine or watch the latest SM music video! It’s all there.
Talk about SM Town paradise! Aren’t you excited for your next trip out to Seoul?
