Made In Korea: “Despicable Me 3” Minion Instant Ramyun

“Despicable Me 3” has been out in South Korean for just about a week now, and no one has been spreading ‘minion fever’ further than national convenience store chain GS25.

GS25 has been giving fans of the popular animation every possible chance to sneak a little minion into their day – from minion banana milk to small goods like earbuds, portable chargers, and toothbrushes.

Perhaps the most unusual product they’re offering, however, is their minion-inspired instant ramyun. Labeled “YouUs Corn Cheese Soup Noodles,” the ramyun comes in a bright yellow paper container designed to look like a minion itself.

The ramyun has become a trendy try among daring convenience store-goers, as instant ramyun is a popular late night snack among college students. Not only is the broth an unusual sweet corn flavor, but the soup comes with actual minions floating around inside!

The minions are actually tiny pieces of fishcake that add a fun little flair to the soup – you know, just in case you forget that you’re eating something minion-themed. The soup also contains whole kernels of corn to make the ramyun a more heartier snack.

The soup is made with a packet of corn-flavored broth powder. However, the final step in the noodle process is a packet of cheese topping. Putting the cheese on after the soup has already cooked adds a satisfyingly gooey cheese texture to the noodles and enhances the smell of the soup.

Right now, you can only currently find the soup at national GS25 locations and while supplies last. So if you’re in Korea this summer, hunt this soup down and try it for yourself!

Perhaps the top must-have items of the 8Seconds X Nongshim line are actually the socks. The embroidered shrimp and beer accents are a cute nod to Shrimp Crackers’ popularity as a drinking snack. And starting at 3,990 KRW (roughly $3.50 USD) a pair, they are a serious steal!

The nautical striped tees are as fun as they are flattering! Particularly, the women’s striped tee’s feminine boat-neck cut and three-quarter sleeves make it the perfect item for the transitioning seasons. The Shrimp Cracker logo embroidery is also giving us heavy (or should we say ‘fishy’?) Ralph Lauren vibes.

For the more fashion forward, the striped linen items are guaranteed to turn heads no matter where you wear them! These unisex styles are suitable for both men and women. 8Seconds even suggests purchasing the sky blue items together as a pajama set.
